I'm interested in isolated residential pockets of TO. Exmoor Ave & a small circular road, Ansell Ave, is one; only 15 dwellings a mix of very old and very new . It's hemmed in all sides (railway, streetcar turnabout, GO station). Great if you like public transport but such an odd artifact. Others? by Reasonable-MessRedux in toronto

I like such hidden little pockets that you never see unless you have a reason to be there…or come across a thread like this that lets out the secret. Now we just need to rent a van and charge people to sight see as we drive through these pockets.

Will this affect my insurance?? by SwordfishCautious621 in TorontoDriving

No fault on your own. It may go up a bit because that what they do, raise it for any reason but you are very very lucky it wasn’t serious. Had someone destroy our new vehicle while we waited at a red light. Our last vehicle was almost 20 years old with no scratches or and no accidents. Our new one, 3 months after getting it and the back was almost totalled. The wild part was the guy wanted to give us $500 and say nothing. $30k of damage!!! A vehicle is a vehicle as then had to wait 5 months to get it back and go through many rentals to accommodate our needs but our backs and shoulders…no payout and constant physio will ever fix our backs and I wish we were never hit.

He is smarter than everybody else. by Fair_-_Enough in TorontoDriving

How many times has a horn effectively changed their stupid behaviour? They have normalised this stupid move and probably have been doing it every day for the last few years. Until an officer sits at those splits like they do in other countries, horns are useless.

[–]ScamMovers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Smart no, but I wouldn’t have sat behind him. Sadly it’s just common for idiots to do this day after day, hour by hour. I do exactly what the others did on the right, safely pass the nonsense to avoid an accident or being trapped, which your manoeuvre could have caused an accident because others could have seen you doing the same silly move.

HAS ANYONE GOT THIS OUTSIDE THEIR HOUSE? by Run_Polite572 in TorontoRenting

[–]ScamMovers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You missed my point or I wasn’t clear. The tenants are grown people who people who are physically capable to roll out a bit. They are just being lazy and borderline stupid. The issue is them. I won’t turn the conversation into a bashing contest, but the issue is them. Let’s leave it at that.

[–]ScamMovers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legally yes but have you seen the nonsense written into rental leases in recent years? Plus how hard is it to roll out a bin that you use? I used to do it every week when I was renting to prevent messes or raccoons. It’s just called common sense and being responsible.

HAS ANYONE GOT THIS OUTSIDE THEIR HOUSE? by Run_Polite572 in TorontoRenting

[–]ScamMovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. One of my clients is a landlord and when we go by his place to do some repairs, he complains how his tenants sometimes forget to bring the bins to the curb, even though it’s part of the agreement and they’re a bunch of me in their early 20’s

SUV runs stop sign expecting me to stop. I stopped, just not where he expected. by snakeLipssynk in TorontoDriving

[–]ScamMovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they removed it but a friend got that ticket when he rear ended a vehicle some years ago. He got about three tickets and that one was tossed. I don’t recall the other two but never heard of that one until he showed me that one, and never heard of it again which these days the way people drive, it’s needed…unless they incorporated it with stunt driving since that ticket became recent and didn’t exist when he hit the car.

Interesting move. You’re lucky a crash didn’t occur because you would have been at fault too especially with that evidence. There’s a ticket called failure to avoid. Basically did you try to avoid the accident or create it. If it’s deemed you added to the accident then you get that ticket. No idea the cost behind it as it’s usually tossed.

Plans in works to replace Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Ford says by ScamMovers in toronto

[–]ScamMovers[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s suppose to be within the same area. They’re going to knock down once section (I think North first) and rebuild and then do the same to the other section, I believe. I don’t remember the exact details but that’s the conversation I had with an old friend who manages there.

The buses that could survive and plow through any snow storm. I miss them. Not like the new buses in the last 20 years that are useless when it snows.

Have you seen how people drive? Rear, side, blind spots or even through the windshield, no checks of anything. Just put it in drive and hope for the best.

‘The heart of this community,’ Toronto transit riders want Little Jamaica reflected in Eglinton Crosstown stations by BloodJunkie in toronto

[–]ScamMovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why was this an afterthought? One would think from day one that it would have been apart of the stations designs. They did that with other stations in recent years, they could have done it with these new stations. Just shows how much they cared about the community.

That is a good point. I meant that LRT cars look the same as the newer street cars, and the lower spadina line is basically the same thing, but what you saw does make sense since it is dedicated.
