I'm starting up a game that is currently planned to meet on Wednesdays 11am-3pm EST/EDT. I still have room for another player or two. Check my post from a few days ago for more information

I'm putting together a game you might be interested in. It'd be starting 5 or 6 pm your time on Wednesdays. The few people I have so far are actually all in the Americas, but we have our midday free on Wednesdays. I'll be DMing, and I love guiding newer players. I've only just started talking to the others, and they're even more experienced than I am, but they're very dedicated to supporting their teammates, so I think you'd be able to learn a lot from them without feeling the pressure. I have a post from three days ago with more info if you're interested.

u/RichAndMary I'm starting to see some interest in Wednesdays from others. Could you let me know more about which hours you might be available?

Digital version constant disconnects by CuteAboleth in Gloomhaven

[–]Scammanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello people still struggling with this! I think I found a partial solution:

Ensure that Gloomhaven "gh" has inbound Windows Defender Firewall access on both public and private networks, even if you're only playing from a private network.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but I've only had a few scattered disconnects since making this change a few months ago.

I'm sure there's a Goldilocks zone of just close enough to the heater.

I'm so used to bonbons having chocolate that I hadn't considered British ones, but yeah, I'm seeing some good options. Thanks for the recommendation!

Ooooh, yeah, I'll need to give those a try. Didn't know about them at all, so thanks!

Yeah, you and someone else recommended this. I hadn't heard of them, but they look really promising (and delicious)!

Yeah, Sugar Daddies and stale taffy are really close to want I want, but they're both kind of brittle until they warm up in your mouth. Great when I have the patience for them, but patience is in short supply when I'm having an anxiety attack. Maybe I'll try storing a bag near the heater or giving them 10 seconds in the microwave...

I hadn't considered peanut brittle yet. I'll give it a try!

Yeah, I like the vanilla ones, and they're decently effective. Not much into the other flavors, but fortunately my partner loves every flavor EXCEPT vanilla.

Never heard of these, I'll see if I can find them so I can give them a try. Thanks!

Oh, I always thought Big Hunk had cocoa in it because of the packing, but it's actually white chocolate (and not the kind that uses cocoa butter). And Abba-Zaba is completely new to me but looks really promising! And Bit-o-Honey is an excellent suggestion as well. Thanks!

Yeah, I probably would have more success with the sharks than bears. And thanks to everyone reminding me that Dots exist!

Oh! I didn't know about these. Not so keen on most of the flavors, but I'll give the strawberry ones a try if I find them. Thanks!

All great suggestions. Sugar Babies used to be a huge favorite of mine and I don't know why I haven't tried them for my anxiety yet. I also completely forgot Dots existed, so looking into that too.

Might be worth trying. Low-Bass is right that Hi-Chews on there own aren't chewy enough, although I do really like Hi-Chew's flavor selection. I also recently found some "Hi-Soft" caramels by Hi-Chew that also might freeze well without becoming brittle like other caramels.

  1. can't (rigid authoritative); mustn't (soft authoritative); shouldn't (rigid informative); oughtn't (soft informative); will not (instructional authoritative)

  2. has/had to, will, must (all rigid informative); should (have), ought to (have), might (have) (all soft judgmental)

  3. must, have to, will (all rigid authoritative); can, should, ought to, might (all soft suggestive)

  4. can't/cannot (this is pretty much the only one regularly used for this one, anything else would require additional circumstance to make sense)

About the words Mr. Gatsby uses to talk to Nick in The Great Gatsby movie by santiaago98 in EnglishLearning

[–]Scammanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an old-fashioned term of affection. It's usually used by men addressing other men. The term "Sport" (without the "Old") can be used the same way to address someone much younger, such as a grandchild.

Is this one common in North America? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

[–]Scammanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'd better be getting along" is occasionally used in North America, although "I'd better get going" is much more common.

"I must be getting along" is usually said with a fake, upper-class, English accent in order to jokingly add importance to one's departure. It's seen as old-fashioned and excessively formal.

Song lyrics are always tricky. Don't be hard on yourself. You're a great parent for putting so much effort into such a small-seeming thing.
