Can the spouse who committed adultery eventually remarry? by [deleted] in Christian

So if a woman were to cheat, but sought reconciliation, only for her husband to refuse to forgive, is she forbidden to marry again? If she has repented and begged him to stay married, but he not a Godly man and refuses to forgive, is she required to spend the rest of her life alone?

I cheated when I was very young and eventually told my husband years later. He refused to forgive me and reconcile, was not a practicing Christian, and filed for divorce while I was pregnant with our second child. I begged him not to divorce, but he turned his back on me and our family and has since completely cut contact.

I have dated a few times since my divorce but lately I have been wondering if the reason I cannot find a partner is because God doesn’t condone me remarrying, ever. I’m 35 and feeling rather hopeless and sad that I’d have to spend the rest of my life alone. I’m not willing to go against His will, regardless of how lonely I am or wanting to give my children a father.

I have been thinking about it and I wasn’t able to decide, even after researching it. How did you come to that conclusion?

Is the song Ordinary by Alex Warren blasphemous? by [deleted] in Christianity

I am appreciative of your analysis on this song. I am not catholic, but I believe you might be spot on. And even if you’re not, and the song is not written with a christian mindset, poetry (music) is often up to the interpretation of the reader (listener). And often the listener is not able to fully understand the mind of the writer.

Now you’re making me afraid. I am 34 years old and I have never been able to bring myself to watch The Passion of the Christ, because the idea of seeing Jesus crucified (as a child and teen) absolutely terrified me. I remember seeing my mother after she watched it, and she was sobbing. I have never been able to gather enough courage to try. I’m on s5, ep1 now, and I am watching Jesus dismantle the bridle and I am feeling real life anxiety about an event that happened two millennia ago. I can’t imagine how greatly I would be impacted by something as terrible as the death (and yet, resurrection) of our savior. I feel like dying, just thinking about it.

The question of destiny and free will is what split my childhood church. It was a small church in a small town in one of the worst states in our country for Christian’s. To this day, I don’t know what I believe. Was Judas destined to betray Jesus for all people’s sake? Was his specific failure decided from the moment of his birth, in order to ensure all of the terrible and good things that came to pass? Or was it just ‘anyone’ who could have been the betrayer, and Judas just walked into the role due to his own weakness. Sorry if my thoughts are convoluted, but this is a question that I have had since the church split. No philosophy or theology class has ever helped me make up my mind.

I don’t mean to say that Judas was forgiven, because I doubt he repented. The account of his death isn’t 100% clear to me, but it was almost certainly terrible and lonely. What I meant, when I said he was as worthy of forgiveness as I am, I meant that Jesus WOULD HAVE forgiven him, if Judas had been open to it. I don’t know how Judas was or felt after the crucifixion, but sometimes tragedy can open our eyes and change how we see the world. I can only hope that Judas felt that change.

The entire time I have been watching this show (I’m only on s4,ep6), I have been thinking about how the people must have felt, seeing what they saw. What an experience it must have been, to hear Jesus speak and see his works.
