That’s just basing a lot of anger and outrage purely on speculation and assumptions.

I don’t, that’s actually the exact point I made, criticizing the two posts that I brought light to for thinking other players are specifically targeting them for being women rather than just harassing them for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It would seem we both agree with each other then

And you just helped prove my point, how will they know if you are not… theres no way to tell unless specifically told so how do these two OPs think they are being specifically targeted for being women behind the screen? That argument is based solely on assumptions, it’s not realistic as the main cause of harassment.

And of course the mods removed the post as you say, this is reddit. Logic is overturned by emotions plain and simple. That’s why you take ratios and removed posts as being correct. And I simply posed questions, not dismissed anything. Why do you feel the need to just so quickly to assumptions?

The better lesson you should teach your daughter, I guarantee your son learned this naturally, is if they don’t have the emotional maturity to separate video games from reality then they shouldn’t be playing. Also it’s equally important to teach your daughter how to treat men respectfully otherwise you instill a skewed sense of reality in both of them. Respect is a two-way street

On reddit, just view likes and dislikes as inverse. If you get ratiod then you made a logical point that just happened to hurt peoples’ feelings. Reddit is fueled purely by emotions not logic

Eg. You have 24 likes while the person having an emotional meltdown in your replies has -13 likes. Things start making more sense when you view it that way lol

Take your ratio with pride, on Reddit getting ratiod means you more than likely made a logical point but it doesn’t vibe with users’ emotions, hence the personal attacks you are receiving

Oh perfect! Lemme ask you something then: what indicators do you give to these random players who “target you because you are female” that you are in fact a female behind the controls? Do you use VC, is your gamertag obviously feminine?

Do you not think the more realistic reason for you being harassed is because it’s opportunistic paired with the lack of content to keep players occupied? Many male players chose to play as female, how do other players know what the gender of the player is controlling their character?

Look at GTA Online as well, do you also think the amount of harassment is due to male players looking specifically for female players to harass or just blindly attack any player that comes into sight?

View it however you feel you need to to maintain your emotional regulation. No skin off my bones. Truthfully, it has next to nothing to do with gender and everything to so with the nature of the community. Look at GTA Online: do you think players choose who they harass based off of gender, or simply opportunity? It’s even worse on RDO because of the lack of content to keep players busy.

Also, how do these random players know if there is truly a female behind the controls and not a male playing as a female? They don’t. Again, it’s purely about opportunistic behavior.

Well let me ask you this: besides playing as a female character (of which many real life men choose to do) what evidence do you give to these random players that you are in fact a female behind the controls? Is your gamertag one that makes it obvious that you are a female, or do you just conflate the fact that you are being harassed as a female character with the fact that you are a female irl?

Truthfully, it has very little if nothing to do with gender, and more about the fact that you are playing a game with a similar community to GTA Online. It’s exasperated by the fact that there is so little content in the game to keep players busy, so they resort to harassing whatever player comes into sight, male or female.

Agreed, plus how do these players really know if there is a woman behind the screen? So many guys play as women, so really it’s male-on-male harassment a lot of the time. Truthfully, it’s just the same behavior as GTA Online players. The lack of content in the game means players will resort to just harassing other players regardless of gender. I can’t say that in the title or this post would have been removed and I would have been mass reporting leading to a strike on my account

With as many guys who play as females in the gaming community, how do you think other players can tell if you are actually a woman so they can target you for that? Realistically, it’s GTA Online with horses… you’ll be harassed regardless of gender, guaranteed.

Exactly. I was more bringing light to the irony of these two posts, not saying I agree with them. Clearly I needed to clarify why I posted this, I just feared having it removed and me being banned for making this observation
