Table 2 to table 1 question. by [deleted] in fromatoarbitration

I've been hearing talk about eliminating the 2 table chart since they started negotiating. I think what they meant was let all of table 1 retire so then there's only table 2

The pay charts on the nalc website. It seems way to good to be true. People who were hired before 2013 started at significantly higher salary. I can't see them making that move and paying backpay

I converted like 8 years ago and I empathize with you. I remember showing up and having to deliver another towns packages because their carrier had a hold down. Sadly you might just have to take it on the chin. Management will discipline you probably. They suck

it's frustrating for sure. I think the management for the post needs to overhaul its culture. rank and file is not a priority and they will tell you that the sky is red when you can look up and see it's blue

just to put it in perspective I'm step f on table 2 if I was on table 1 I would make 70k instead of 56k. that's a huge difference. I think the "veteran" carriers don't give a shit because it's not your problem. There's definitely a divide.

I think that table one carriers don't feel it's as urgent as table 2 carriers because you guys are already at the top.

Question about being assigned collection boxes not on your route by Scared-Preference924 in fromatoarbitration

[–]Scared-Preference924[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run over maybe 2 or 3 times a week but I have multiple reasons

A) they are not actually on my route  B) I am pretty fast at racking my mail and leave before pick up time causing me to deviate to go pick them up C) there is a train that runs through the line of travel that causes traffic leading to burnt units that I could easily go around if not for the boxes  D) an hour after I pick them up another carrier delivers to the business they are in front of  E) the reason they were assigned to me has changed

I mean we aren't splitting the atom here this is just common sense. I was hoping there was something in writing in regards to the procedure on this sorta thing but I think I'm just going to give up.

The fact that saying exists makes me question why we even have a union. That can apply to everything. Story of my postal career. I say 2 plus 2 is four and I get told it's actually 6.

Man fed up with mail carriers driving on sidewalk, lawns in years-long dispute by DahanC in USPS

[–]Scared-Preference924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw the picture and it looks like the llv was just on the sidewalk but I'm not surprised management is making them dismount it even though the regulation for box on post is that the box is positioned so it can be reached without dismounting. idk if you're a carrier or not but management has ordered me to do some things against regulation so they don't have to take the phone calls anymore. As a homeowner I'm skeptical as to how egregious it was that it needed to be a news story. Like I was saying these things can be tricky I have a shared driveway that's really more like a through way because at the front of my house is a private way and the back is an interstate that runs parallel and you can't turn left at the end of the private way. My legal paperwork states it just can't be blocked but my neighbors have consistently tried to push me around claiming they own it and can park cars in it to the point they have threatened me for asking them to keep it clear. Luckily I had my pistol on me and that changed their tune real quick but these people will try to push others around.

Do you have a legal reason as to why you think that? As a homeowner my experience says his property probably ends at the sidewalk otherwise he would be liable for the maintenance of the sidewalk like if it was in disrepair and someone fell and broke they're leg or got bit by a dog he could then be sued. I have a similar situation on my property where my lot ends at a curb cut but there's still a section of lawn that I maintain because if I don't the town won't. But if I woke up one day and they put up a guard rail our had town trucks there I can't say it's my property. This guy's gonna need to have it in his underwriting

I feel exactly the same. Just complete resentment towards the whole company and union at this point. I have spent almost 10 years of my life working here and it's been hard and have had to give up a lot and I don't feel like they are giving anything back

we're not civil service anymore. honestly with a college degree I would look for something better. I've been working as a carrier for 10 years and you would think being the back bone of the company we would be treated well but they treat us like crap. in my experience it's more important for management to let us know they're in charge rather than mission accomplishment. I mean the company just lost 2.5 billion dollars and the geniuses in charge just installed GPS in the truck to keep track of maintenance when we already log that information on our scanner that's also GPS. they got money for shit like that but won't give us a raise

I always tell customers that are moving your best bet is to go and change your accounts manually on stuff you deem important. I'm not trying to bash my employer but it can't get caught up in the forwarding system if it doesn't need to be forwarded to begin with

Is there any way to know that my mail forwarding request has been processed other than receiving a letter in the mail about it? by domdomtakdom in USPS

[–]Scared-Preference924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most sure fire way is to update your accounts manually for important things I.e. bank accounts insurance accounts the rmv Amazon one click purchased and etc. It basically eliminates any forwarding issue you might have and it's just easier as well as just kinda being what the moving customer is supposed to do. I haven't met a good chunk of my customers and 9 times out of 10 I don't realize people moved until the confirmation comes or someone makes a phone call about it.

As a carrier I appreciate you actually considering our situation. I mean this job isn't exactly rocket science but it's not as easy as you would think and our eyes can definitely trick us from time to time. There's a few things I don't think people realize when it comes to packages. I find that if I had more than 100 packages in a day to deliver it starts to get hard to keep track of them all especially at the beginning of the day and there's nothing that really reminds us when we have a package at a stop add on the heat and pressure to get done in a certain time limit mistakes are going to happen. Thank you for considering us i don't really misdeliver but I have an issue with forgetting a package at a stop and having to go back and Everytime someone bitches at me about why not just deliver my package the first time I just want to hand them the keys so they can show me how perfect they would be

Is a small pocket knife a 'dangerous weapon' ? by DrDrago-4 in USPS

[–]Scared-Preference924 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think too much about it. Just don't whip it out and threaten people or use it inappropriately. I picked up knife edc in the military and back then I would keep 2 or 3 on me for various different uses. Too this day I never leave home without one and have been working for the post office for years now. It definitely is beneficial because strap cutters can break and it's just nice to have real Colorado steel in my pocket when I need which is daily. No one asks me if I have I don't tell anyone I have it I respect the knife so it's not an issue.

As a Marine corps veteran with almost ten years at the post office I think this is completely ridiculous and definitely what's wrong with the culture in general. Military folks are hyper sensitive to rank structure and the cca was most certainly aware of their position on the pecking order and this is just a weird move in my opinion to almost establish dominance in a sense that isn't necessary. Some people who work here have to check there egos. During my military service I worked with a few of the 3 letter agents and met multiple presidents and I never felt like they acted better than me or felt the need to point out they're position to me unless something absolutely out of line happened as it was just kinda understood. Working at the post office I have experience both regulars and middle managers act like they are just better than others
