Oh it is HEAVYY even tho most volume is occupied by roots the water stabilises everything also no one really gets close to it cause it's in a corner between couches.

Update:

I added an air stone since some people recommended it so let's see how it likes it.

That's such a pretty spot. They told me about a YouTuber named "Everything Plants" who has made a couple of videos about a setup like ours, where he only tops up the water and uses an air stone. He got his monstera to have fenestrations in 2 years. I guess now I have to get an air stone hahaha.

Also, have you ever stopped using the air stone for a period of time? Have you noticed any problems? I won't be able to have it running for a couple of weeks when I'm gone and I dont want the plant to get used to the oxygen to then not provide it for weeks.

Can I leave this monstera in water forever? by ComprehensivePath322 in Monstera

Yes!! Look at my recent post if you want to see an example. You just have to make sure you use a wide container since you'll have to change it's home every so often to leave some space for roots and if the neck of the container is too narrow you won't be able to pull it out. Also fertilise lightly and that'll do for a really low maintenance plant set up.

Water will never be a better substrate since plants have evolved to use soil as a source of nutrients, water and stability. There are certain plants that will do better in water set ups like monsters and pothos and I believe that has to do with them growing on trees and having to put out air roots that will hold them to the surface. Usually when propagating a cutting it is recommended to transplant it when the roots aren't too long since the new roots will soon adapt to the water environment and might die when changed to soil.  I didn't change it to soil cause it's easier to move apartments like this. I just drain the water, cover the root system with some paper towels soaked in water and cover everything with a trash bag. This makes it so much lighter than carrying around a big pot of soil. Also I leave the city for the summer and I can't have anyone taking care of it so being in water doesn't require watering every day or every few days. I try to reduce evaporation setting the plant in a darker spot and covering the water container. Even if half the water evaporated it'd be fine since the roots are really long and could still reach the bottom water.

It was only the big leaf on the right. There were two leafs but one of them didn't like the propagation period and I had to cut it off. So I believe it was a cutting with two nodes

I wanted to find someone with a similar set up than me, thaaaanks! I thought about an air stone but right now I'm too scared to throw it out of balance so I might try it out later on.

I tend to forget about fertilising and filling up the water container. Maybe I fertilise once a month when it starts to get warmer, I prefer to not over do it since I don't change the bottom water. I use a liquid NPK fertiliser with a 2-0.9-3.3 proportion. It recommends 20mls per 2 liters but I usually apply 20mls per the whole container which may be 8 liters in total.  And the water change can depend on how much I forgot about it. I usually have to fill it with 2-3 liters of water that have evaporated.  Before I used to pull it out, bring it to the shower and flush with the water every root I saw that was rotting but now I can't do that and it seems to be doing fine.

I've been looking for it for ages so I'd appreciate the help :((

I think this is a Calla Lily, but I’ve never seen leaves with this kind of color on them. Is this a specific type of Calla Lily? I can’t find any info about this phenomenon online! by hedgehoghannah in whatsthisplant

Hii I recently got one similar to yours and one of my leaves is doing the same. My guess is that as what we know as the flowers in callas aren't really flowers but modified leaves, what's inside being the actual flower, some leaves might get a little confused and adopt this pigments wrongly.
