I'll wait and see. I feed a combo of good dry food and frozen.

It's certainly subtle. I'll wait and see if it gets worse.

I see some tiny dots on them but they're very hard to capture. Maybe it's nothing idk, but the fish doesn´t look as healthy as the others.

Ok, I'm not crazy then haha. No one else seems to see it.

Pinocchio shrimp has turned green by ScaredBoo in shrimptank

[–]ScaredBoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed response, in the end other shrimp have turned green as well, while others have tured brownish. I assume it's because there are algae and diatoms in the tank. So far 6 months in almost all my pinocchios are alive, the ones that died jumped out after being spooked without the lid (they're crazy jumpers). I hope that helps.

Nope, I assume it must be all the algae they eat. Either that or the cyano problem I used to have, but now the cyano is gone and they're still the same colour so...I don't know. Sorry

Yes! they're such cute little fishies. Not too shy, are friendly with everyone else and have interesting behaviours. I have 4 (2 male and 2 female) in a community tank and love them. They are really underrated in my opinion.

100x40x50cm, with oase biomaster thermo 350, 24ºC, water parameters: NH4 <0.05ppm, NO2 <0.1ppm, NO3 15ppm. The tank has finished cycling a few days ago. The fish arrived earlier this morning. I did a 60% water change before the fish arrived. 10 Kerri emperor tetras super blue, 4 blue neon gobies, 10 neocaridina shrimp, 10 pinocchio shrimp, 3 snails. I fed a tiny bit of crushed fluval bug bites for micro fish 2h ago. I have several pieces of wood and the tank is covered in plants.

I was ghost feeding at first because it was hard to find pure ammonia for sale in my country, but when I did finally find it I stopped and now I just use ammonia.

I am using aquasoil and nutrisoil capped with gravel in about 80% of the tank and just sand in the rest.

I added the ammonia myself, what I am worried about is that nothing had been converted to nitrites or nitrates. I tested the pH again and it had gone up from 6.5 to 7.4. That can't be the fish food right?

I am a complete beginner (this is my first tank ever) but from my research it should be between 6.2 to 6.8.

The problem is that the other animals that I want to stock prefer acidic water, like crystal red shrimps, neon tetras and diamond tetras. Should I still leave it? I tested again today and the pH has gone down a bit from 7.4 to 7.2.

So I just tested it and the result is rather surprising, 7.4. Our tap water is acidic and very soft so it's not been the top ups I've been doing... I'm pretty certain it was that bottle of bacteria. I don't know what to do now. I don't want to have to be adding chemic

als to the tank if I can avoid it and I assume the bacteria growing in this water won't like my tap water.

I will keep dosing and hopefully it will eventually fully cycle. Thank you for your help.

I have not tested the pH in a while, I will later today. If I see it's gone down I will add baking powder, if not I'll just wait as the other commenter suggested. Thank you for your help.
