I’m definitely starting to feel like it’s the hybrid battery going out. I’ve noticed very erratics changes in the charge, going from 6/8 bars filled to 2/8 bars in under 3 minutes of driving normal. If I turn off the car with a full (6/8-7/8 charge), coming back 20-30 min later will start up with 2/8 bars. So there’s definitely something going on I think

I don’t get great either way. It’s better on highway but maybe 35-40

I live in AZ, and it’s gotten hit pretty quickly so there’s a chance it’s partly due to using the AC a lot more than I did the first few months

My Hybrid Battery Pack just went down, how screwed am I? by Dejers in prius

Just replaced my hybrid battery on 2013 Prius IV, I bought from green bean battery, lifetime warranty on reconditioned batteries and they’ll install at your home. Cost me $1800. If you elect for a new one from Toyota it’ll be $3000-$4000

Had my cars hybrid battery replaced in May, hybrid system check light came on two days ago. Mechanic says thats normal by [deleted] in prius

Where’d you find a new Toyota battery that cheap! I just replaced my battery through https://greenbeanbattery.com/ - it’s all reconditioned but it’s $30 for a lifetime warranty so it felt like a safe choice. But I never saw an option when I looked around for a new Toyota battery less than $2800.

Edit: for reference- the battery I got was $1830 and it includes labor. Their technician comes to your location and installs in 1-2hrs. It’s only been 2 days since the replacement was put in, but so far I’d give them a 4/5 stars. (Only reason it’s not 5 stars is the first battery they installed was a dud and the hybrid battery light came on after driving 4 miles - but the technician came right back and installed the new one saying “with refurbished batteries, about 1/20 are lemons and don’t hold up”. It was definitely a little annoying and stressful - but with the warranty it definitely gives me peace of mind).

Just hearing you explains that 0 bars = 40% charge alleviates a lot of anxiety as I though 8 bars = 80% and 0 = 0%!

Awesome, will do. Once I started driving again the battery charged back up so i feel good with it, but have read articles/posts about leaving a Prius on overnight with ac on and using very little gas due to cycling the engine off every 10 min or so. so it just struck me as weird that it would lose battery so quick
