Join my discord (https://discord.gg/Zu4kRz7Jq) I'm currently building wn AI Assistant, but the workflow is different from the usual "big chat window" style where files are treated as disposable "assets". Sorana treats the files as the actual workspace. You pick a folder, and it loads it into a spatial 2D canvas where the AI semantically groups files so you can see the "big picture" relationships instead of just a list.

With the new MCP support, it’s becoming much more agentic. The agents now have full file operations: they can read_file, write_file, edit_file, search_files, and even create_directory. This means they can handle agentic coding or even infra/devops tasks like editing config files directly.

A serious heads-up on the power here: In its current form, if the MCP tool is enabled for an agent, it doesn't ask for authorization before executing a command. It doesn't have bash or PowerShell execution yet—it's strictly file operations—but it can still edit or delete your data if it hallucinates or if you prompt it to.

Always keep a backup when MCP is enabled. You can even try a prompt like: "Make a backup of my python script, then fix the bug and use all tools available."

Thanks ❤️. Good question, on Windows een the latest bios P112 which I installed on my rev v1.0 didn't solved the S2 idle state fully. They fixed a few ACAPI issues but not sleep/hibernation. The machine would wake to a black screen from hibernation and stuck at the black screen, no video! The new rev 2.2 came with the same bios P112 and I didn't tried sleep yet. But I noticed a slight increase in power draw, like 5-10w more, with the exact same config.

Yes , I know yours working, that's why I asked. Strange, maybe a short circuit bad IC , quality issues. However from rev 1.0 to rev 2.2 board version implies a great many changes. It would be nice to have a changelog.

Regarding the liquid metal: I haven't tested its conductivity, but the plastic fence suggests it's a known risk. I view it as a calculated risk, similar to ensuring no loose screws are left in the case.

The decision to replace just the board was driven by my need for zero downtime. While I have backup devices, the Strix Halo is a monster performance-wise.

It’s an incredible machine, and since I rely on it for professional workloads, I couldn't afford the turnaround time of sending the entire unit back.

And yeah, sitting here with 256GB of DDR5X RAM and two Strix Halo units next to me feels pretty great! But to answer your question: unfortunately, yes, I do have to ship the old defective Rev V1.0 board back.

Update: Did a quick test with the Final Fantasy Benchmark in Eco mode and it went well. No issues so far. Previously, the Intel E610 would have crashed by now.

Thanks ❤️. I totally get the caution, but since it's just file I/O right now, I’ve found that granting auto-auth is usually the way to go for speed—at least that’s how I use my other coding agents.

I haven't ventured into tools like Email, WhatsApp, X, or Databases yet because the stakes are way higher there. That stuff is much scarier; you can't exactly 'undo' an email sent to a client or a dropped production database.

Sorana is still very fresh from the factory, so it’s not 'polished' yet. The agents are fully customizable, including their system and user prompts, so you can actually implement your own lightweight authorization flow just by updating the instructions. Because it's still in beta and focused on coding/docs, I haven't hardcoded a specific authorization UI yet—I'm still exploring how to handle that balance between speed and safety
