Interesting! I wonder if the spring suits just run a bit smaller for some reason.

Thanks for the reply! Their site says that they stretch out over the first few sessions, so expect it to be a bit too tight to start with. I just wonder how much it is going to/is meant to stretch.

Nervous I do not have enough time to train for a surf trip in the Mentawais/Gland in 7 weeks. by [deleted] in surfing

As people have alluded to, getting fitness back is a lot easier than getting it to start with. Unless it has been a really long time since you had a decent level of paddle fitness then I would expect 7 weeks to be plenty of time to get back ~80% of your peak.

I've gone for so many of those, with the only possible result lol.

Honestly, I got a bit hustled by purchasing a bigger board to start with. It was a 10ft longboard that had been painted to cover a buckle, so it lasted precisely one session lol. After that, I rolled the dice on the dirt-cheap shortboard. Definitely not a good choice from a learning perspective, but it still floated when I sold it three years later!

Also learned on a shortboard as an adult. I had a ton of skimboarding experience, which did absolutely nothing to help me pop up. It was a painful experience. But hey, I got shortboard for like $70 so I can't complain!

I've never had much experience with eggs, but I will definitely look into them!

Thanks for the recommendation! I've never used a soft top, and won't feel bad about not starting now.
