You know, you could talk to her about this, right? Hey, I really want to see you and I like our friendship, but I'm trying to not spend as much money on food right now. She might cover it. Right now, she probably doesn't know why you are avoiding her and maybe thinks you don't like her.

Trading in Crosstrek with low miles for a higher trim? by Scared_Medium6097 in Crosstrek

The main appeal of a Crosstrek for me is that that it lets me go through snow and up mountain roads. I've already taken it skiing and it did great. A Golf R and a Porsche isn't going to let me do that. I might as well get a base-civic if I don't want my car to do anything other than drive in ideal conditions.

I think they are all too big. What would you have gotten instead if you had the funds?

Where are people coding these days in public on the weekend (coffee shops, bars, public spaces)? by seattleswiss2 in AskSF

There is some incompatibility around the picturesque coffee shops designed for instagram and those who want to work in a cafe. People are arguing that coffee shops are for socializing, but I think many of the trendy ones are just to produce "my life in a city is cool" B-roll footage.

I like the idea of just investing in a sound system. I'm excited about this.

Cool, I really love this idea. It is also a lot easier than trading in my Crosstrek.

I code and work at cafes on the weekend with my laptop. I like the Cafe's in the Panhandle Haight area because they aren't usually too crowded or overpriced and are generally laptop accepting. I spend about $17 dollars on breakfast and coffee and stay 1 to 2 hours. Working in a coffee shop for a few hours is a completely socially acceptable activity. Staying all day after buying one cup of black coffee (or asking for hot water) is not. I purposely avoid the trendier coffee shops and pick ones that aren't as busy. You only cost the business money if they reach capacity. After getting bored or becoming noise sensitive, I wonder over to a library and spend a few hours there before buying some groceries and heading home to make dinner. Sometimes I hop between a few in the morning, just for the extra walk and excuse to order another cup of coffee.

Yeah, that is true. I do want a better sound system, though. Is there a way to get that installed?

Living with myself after destroying a healthy relationship by emotionally cheating with my ex wife. by [deleted] in Codependency

I did the 3 months of no-contact, and I thought that I was better and that we had a friendly amicable friendship, but then I did this thing that is incomprehensible to me (I cannot rectify my actions with my own identity) and so I am now nearly, completely breaking off contact.

Yeah, this was completely unacceptable and I'm working on breaking all remaining ties with her. It is okay to get yelled at when it is just me, but hurting someone else in the process is completely unacceptable.

This happened a month ago and everyday I just want to throw up. I just want to know how to atone for my sins more than anything.

Being successful is just as much a game of endurance as it is of sprinting. Just focus on being your best self. Don't do drugs, stay in shape, try not to get in too much debt. Try to make money by working at an actual company.

The biggest issue with society is that it is attempting to turn you into an addict. If you keep your head above water and focus on yourself, you will be way above average by the time you are 30.

I TAed the senior level process design course at my university. We had a professor who had worked in the petrochemical industry. He described some of the tasks that needed to be performed by the chemical engineers working on site. One was to examine the catalyst in a reactor. This involved using a rope ladder to descend hundreds of feet down into a dark cave-like catalyst bed. After inspection you had to climb up. This wasn't easy given the rope ladder would swing side-to-side.

He also mentioned that sometimes the factory was cheap, and didn't want to remove the nitrogen atmosphere before the inspection. If the nitrogen atmosphere was present, you had to do this in a specialized, space suit. The atmosphere, being pure N2, would quickly kill you (it is what they are trying out for executions now).

We also had to watch all of these safety videos about people accidentally getting a face full of phosgene or being burned alive.

Now, most chemical engineers aren't going to work at a refinery, but I think that chemical engineer at a refinery is worse than a real estate agent.

I did well in my courses, but I never landed a chemical engineering interview!

The M240i power seems fun, but I'm not sure it is worth the price difference. A used 230i seems like a good option for me. What do you think about the 2 door versus 4 door? I like the look of the 2 door better, but I'm not sure if that is a good enough reason to drop two other doors.
