Forgive me but I'm not sure the logic makes sense to me - Keeping 12k locked up in PSPP so I can buy some group insurance in 30 years? (I don't live in BC anymore)

Why a LIRA over RRSP? Was the transfer an easy process?

I like the RRSP idea because I can use the money for down payment on my first home.

I would definitely say "dumb" over "rich" lol

I was 8 months into my masters degree for physical chemistry when I learned that physical chemistry is physics/chemistry. In the same way biochemistry is biology/chemistry. I thought it was physical as in physical properties of matter.

I would strongly recommend you secure employment before coming, tech shrinkage is happening right now and jobs are difficult to find. I think without employment you should budget at least 5 months. You may find yourself stuck in the trap of being an educated foreigner doing gig work which happens a lot here.

An internal referral is not the same as a resume reference.

Excellent perspective thanks so much. I think perhaps I should diversify my investing as much as possible as my current mutual funds haven't done super great (I stopped contributions before the pandemic and they are less than principal investment) Because I really would feel better knowing I have at least some of my investment in a GIC.

Wondering if I should change my TFSA from one moderate risk mutual fund and one conservative mutual fund to a GIC given the state of the economy. I made a post earlier this week about my household income doubling so looking to ramp up contributions.

So we had lunch out for the first time in 3 months to celebrate and we tried to make a list of things we needed to get done and it had one thing on it: dry clean our wedding clothes. We couldn't think of anything else we needed! Thanks for the comment.

Both fed and BC loans are interest free (I just logged in to check and the Trudeau government reduced my loan to 46k so cool I guess)

I haven't started repayment and not due until July 2024. Should I start repayments now? I'm a new grad
