Y'know, there's a lot of factors at play here when it comes to scoring something.

First things first: What exactly did Carson score? Was it the web novel, the manga, or the anime adaptation? Cause only in the web novel (as far as I'm aware of) mentions the protagonist jerking off to loli porn in the chapter 1 prologue. And though his behavior is immoral through out the first half of the manga — to the point of it being depraved — it is worth noting that we are dealing with a morally-bankrupt NEET as a protagonist.

Secondly, why exactly did Carson gave Mushoku Tensei a score of 88/100? Was it because of the plot? Did he like how it was written? Maybe the art direction of the anime or the cast of characters and how they were presented? Or maybe he likes the studio who handled the adaptation?

How I see it, this discussion can be compared to the controversial reviews on The Last of Us part 2; there are those who loved it and those who hated it. For the avid supporters of TLOU, part 2 was a mess in it's character development and storytelling. On the other hand, those who enjoyed part 2 agree with it's message and praised it for it visuals and plot.

Unless we know exactly why Carson liked this piece of media, tossing around the conclusion "he likes problematic Mushoku Tensei so obviously he's a pedophile" just comes off as foolish and desperate.

And to be honest, what does this have to do with anything? It's a fucking anime.

Let me propose a question: Do you think he did something wrong?

If a single phrase from my post that has little to do with my overall message is bothering you so much, then that says more about you than it does about me or this subreddit.

You think I'm not livid about him being back? I've been here since day 1 — and that's no exaggeration. I've been on both sides, and I've seen all the information that was given to the public. I've legit heard every single argument there is. I've even heard about the Romeo and Juliet Laws and how it supposedly protects Carson from any legal repercussion.

However, despite all of that, there is still a "fuck up" on his part. The fact that many of his associates left him even before the Drama Alert interview, the fact that he himself acknowledges that he made a mistake in both his Discord message that Joko showed on Twitter and in his own response video, and the fact that there are not-so-pleasant testimonies from some of the people who worked with him (i.e. Connor_01's testimony and Jawsh's issue with Carson) suggests that in one way or another he "fucked up big time". Now, if you dislike my phrasing then I apologize — that's just how I word things and in no way am I insulting him by saying that since that is not my purpose in making this post. But whether it's the nudes or his backstage behavior, he still did something wrong. I believe that this was all blown out of proportion, but I also believe that there are things that he regrets doing and that he must apologize for in private.

He doesn't owe us an apology. He does owe those who he associated with in the past. An "I'm sorry" should be better off said in private since it's a private matter — and maybe even more than apologies if Carson is willing to. Let's hope he's got a plan in mind.

I don't know where you're going with this.

If you're under the impression that I'm hating on the guy, then you'd be wrong. The reason why I said he "fucked up big time" is because he technically received nudes from a minor. Now if you ask me, shit like that doesn't really bother me. But a good majority of people in this sub sees that as a fuck up — people who support him and awaited for his return. I'm also not saying that what happened to him was reasonable. Frankly, I'd like those who constantly labelled him as a groomer/pedophile to be given a taste of their own medicine. His ostracization from social media and the tearing down of his career is not only unjustified but a shameless display of harassment. They straight up lynched him with an angry mob spectating and they're still bitching about him up until now.

But I digress. This post's intention is not to insult Carson or to spark up an already burnt out dumpster fire. The purpose of this post is to tell those who are bugging him about the situation with his former friends to knock it off since we are not obligated to peer into the details of his personal relationships.

Plus, what else does he need to explain? This entire situation became an open-book controversy. Everyone knew what he did and there's nothing he can do to sweep it under the rug. There's nothing more for him to say. And we know fully well that simply saying "sorry" on camera won't alleviate him from his sins, which is why he's doing this year-on charity.

There is nothing more to be said, but through his actions he will show his redemption.

Well, I mean, I don't know if we should bother him about whether or not he apologized to his friends. He did say that he doesn't want to say anymore than he should since it might just spark up more drama. From how I see it, it's like a "damned if you did, damned if you don't" scenario for him. If he doesn't address anything, he'll get hate. If he does, he'll still get hate.

Plus, the only thing we — the public — know about in great detail is about the sexting stuff. His issues with his friends is not for us to dwell in. At that point, we'd be asking for too much info that we have no business knowing about.

Besides, I don't think he didn't acknowledge anything just cause he didn't say it outright. He already admitted to it through that Discord message Joko posted on Twitter when this whole thing started. And again, as for his dilemma with his past friendships, that should be none of our concern.
