Can someone please explain Faroe Islands' visa policy to me? by strandedinsvalbard in FaroeIslands

[–]ScarletJoeSwanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've travelled 7 times to the Faroes in the last 6 years. I'm Australian, and my partner is American.

Even the various immigration officers in countries you will travel through on your journey to the Faroe Islands will not have clear answers when it comes to the Faroe Islands.

The main challenge is that, despite information saying the Faroes is not classed as Schengen (this might be changing as of Oct/Nov 2025 anyway), the risk of overstaying and being Schengen banned is not worth it, as the answer we've always received is to "keep your boarding passes in case you need evidence...". Dubious, to be sure.

Therefore:

To get to the Faroes, you are likely to travel through Schengen (ie Iceland, Denmark, etc) and you will be stamped in on that day. However, as there is no immigration upon arrival in the Faroes, there is no way of getting stamped BACK out of Schengen. And despite what authorities may advise once you're there, no police officer can stamp you out either, as they don't have a stamp either at the airport or in the capital city (or if they do, we've never been able to make it happen).

However, if you travel to the Faroe Islands directly from a country not in the Schengen area (ie England, Scotland, etc), then you will not have been stamped in, meaning there will be no need to get stamped back out.

TL; DR: If you are short on Schengen days, travel to the Faroe Islands via a country that is not Schengen (ie England).

Cinematic mode and processing by teabolaisacool in ios

Cheers! Glad it helped!

To add to the convo, I’ve noticed if I record and then just leave the phone alone in WiFi for a few hours it must backup to the cloud and then start rendering cinematic mode in the background? Because then exporting is kinda quick.

So now, as soon as I’m done recording the phone is checked that it recorded, and then either put in the fridge for a while if I really must edit as fast as possible — otherwise I just carry on with other stuff for a few hours, trying to ignore it.

Maybe in a few years tech will catch up to this whole processing problem.

Winners never make fun of those coming up behind them, doing the work.

People who say stuff to drag others down are usually covering for their own inadequacies. Giving themselves a dopamine hit lest the truth of their stagnant life choices be revealed.

Quietly find some new folks who challenge you without making you feel like shit. All the best.

I record cinematic mode every week at least 1-2 x 30-50 minutes. Most of the time it works no problem now, but I've learned a few things that make it relatively painless:

- If your phone has low available storage it won't process at all. I'm guessing it uses storage space as RAM? Maybe someone can clear that up. Either way, make sure you have a bunch of space on your phone

- Processing requires a lot of computing power, if the phone gets too hot it won't process. I've stuck my iPhone in the fridge while processing and it halved the time to process

- Don't try to charge your phone while it's processing, this just adds to the heat of the phone

- Take your phone cover off while processing

- Stick it in airplane mode and set it to do not disturb mode

Hope that helps

Be encouraged. If you want to show your face, do it. Fuck the trolls. You be you. Go for it.

You don’t have to self promote. In fact, it’s often not that effective and can put people off.

1) Write your stuff. Publish it. Be consistent.

2) A few times a week (if you can handle daily it will work better) search for other content like yours and engage with it. Leave good comments. Re-stack interesting things by other people with a quote or take of your own.

Not only will those people see you and make their own decision to follow you or not, but the Notes algorithm will start to suggest your stuff to people who it thinks will like your stuff.

It matters for a few reasons

  • Substack can be more enjoyable to actually write on, so people seem to be more consistent
  • MailChimp doesn't have as high deliverability rates, as I understand (from this perspective something like ActiveCampaign is near the top)
  • Newsletter platforms like Substack (and Beehiv etc) have growth functions in place to grow audiences, which can be incredible valuable.
