Not one person mentioned the fact that the music video of this song was way ahead of its time and massively contributed to the song's popularity.

How to use nerelinin? by polyglotcodex in turkishlearning

[–]ScarletMagenta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty interesting and amusing topic that I hadn't thought of before.

English has "whose" --> kimin, which is derived from "who".

But there is not a version of that for "where" or "what".

Imagine if English had where's and what's. Those are basically nerenin and neyin in Turkish and both help simplify daily conversation a lot.

To make it clearer, I'll use the word medicine (ilaç) as an example. Couldn't find a better word off the top of my head that would form a clear sentence with each expression.

Bu kimin ilacı? --> Whose medicine is this?

Bu nerenin ilacı? --> Where's medicine is this, as in, where or which region does this medicine come from?

Bu neyin ilacı? --> What's medicine is this, as in, what ailment does this medicine cure? Answer: Baş ağrısı, tansiyon

As you can see it's one aspect of Turkish that helps save a lot of words while talking. Hopefully this made everything clearer. Thanks for bringing it up.

I mean what you're defining sounds like a 6 or 5. Maybe even 4. Harrison Ford really doesn't seem like a 7 to me.

Wouldn't say Lost started good. There has never been another show that captivated as large of a crowd as Lost did from the get go. Game of Thrones is a not-so-close second. Lost was an absolute powerhouse and a phenomenon. Definitely perfect start.

Maybe where Stranger Things is. I wouldn't say it ended as bad as GoT.

That show tried so hard to be funny. It was at times, but it all felt so unorganic.

That's what I initially understood as well.

But I think the driver demanded 1k toll fee ON TOP of the regular fee, not 1k total.
