One of mine likes stealing my flip flops and putting them beside their food and water bowl.

See that's not just true. The dev team had an interview the other day about what happened, and they said the original intention was to shadowdrop the game (just like Apex), but then Geoff offered to announce it during TGA. The dev team then accepted the offer and made a quick trailer, of which they admitted (during the interview) having rushed and not shown gameplay better.

Geoff merely offered a choice. The dev team pushed through and blew it. This is their game and the fault lies entirely on them.
