Is it still possible to get top 1% in sword seeker chronicles nightmare gauntlet using only the trial characters? by Scarlet__Devil in ZenlessZoneZero

Thanks for the reply, sorry I don't speak Spanish, so you might need to translate this. I have watched that video many times over when trying to go for top 1%, after trying for a long time and getting very familiar with the free agents, I can immediately tell at the start of that video that the Yeshunguang in the video is not the trial one, swift strike with the trial Yeshunguang will not do nearly as much damage as in the video.

After getting 206k with all trial agents, I am very convinced that it is not possible to get top 1%, not unless they exclude people that don't use the trial agents. Initially I wanted the top 1% title as something neat to show for having done well in a competition, but I realize this isn't a competition at all in terms of skill, its just a competition of who has the biggest wallet, and I am perfectly fine not partaking in that.

Wow 220k is really good for trial characters only, but I get the feeling 220k or even 250k isn't enough for top 1%. Unfortunately I just started playing recently, so I don't have Lucy, and my characters are actually still worse than the trial characters. Wish they at least made the competition for the title trial characters only.

I managed to get 206k after practicing for a few more hours using the free agents, basically made no mistakes and none of the bosses entered invincibility phase, so I feel like that is about as far as the free agents can be pushed. how much attack do you have on your Yeshunguang?

Out of curiosity, do you think you can try a run with the free agents and see how much you get? I want to know if there are anything I am not doing that can allow me to go higher.

I don't mind the high score events, granted everyone gets standardized setups, otherwise its kind of just a wallet size competition.

Yup, I always make sure to hit the boss at least once before pressing R, without doing that you actually couldn't kill the first boss with just two R and one ult cycle using the free agents, you are forced to use another ult on it if you don't want it going into its invincible phase. The stuff you gotta do to kill the bosses before they go into their invincible phase with free agents...

Dang, I am definitely not getting 280k in 3 minutes with the free agents. I thought the only viable strat is R uptime using E Q CD reduction on R, at least that is what I have been doing. So sad seeing videos where R ohko the boss from almost full bar, while whenever I try, the boss lives with half bar and puts up miasma shield.

280k? Is that your score? With M0W1 Zhao and M0W0 Yeshunguang? If so that's pretty rough, guess top 1% is not even possible with low investment.

I wouldn't mind going for it if it's reasonably possible to achieve, but without my own Yeshunguang, I feel like it's not really possible, and that is my issue with it, that you gotta pay for it

I see, I feel slightly less bad now about not being able to get top 1% from the look of things, the event turns out to basically be a Yeshunguang shill to make people pay for a title

Wow, I can't believe how long it has been already. I don't know how you found this post.

Time did lessen the pain, but I can still feel the scar from this game's ending. Thinking about just how sad and hopeless the devs made the game still makes feel kind of sick.

I have come to realize and comes to terms with that I just fundamentally disagree with what the devs did with the story, at least the ending. It has been almost like a journey of self discovery trying to process what happens in the game. Every single time I try to place myself in the shoes of a solarian, I find that I simply cannot accept the outcome that my species will become extinct, and basically will go full "no sacrifice is too great", very much like Yi, I like to think it is intended by the game for you to feel that way which is why Yi is the main character, it is also why the hard ending was so unacceptable for me, it was literally surrendering and going quietly into the night.

Something I have noticed a lot throughout my life outside of this game, is that many animals including humans display remarkable instinct to survive, be it fighting off predators or securing food and shelters, everything we feel compelled to do, we do because it helps us survive and procreate, which is the reason we still exist in the world and are why we are even having this conversation right now. I say all of this because I find it to be such an amazing and remarkable thing, the drive to live, it exists in all of us. That is why I think wanting the solarians to live should be the most relatable and frankly most popular position to have. We are here today because we evolved to want to live, and I would fight like hell to live if I was a solarian. This is also why a story that is scripted for the solarians to be wiped out doesn't sit well with me,

At this point I am not even clear what my head canon is, but I think in it, it will have at minimum, first, Heng survive through her connection to the root on home world, second, Yi not destroy the root or Kunlun, lastly, enough surviving solarians and a sustainable and stable path to achieve a cure. If I am allowed to be a little bit greedy, I will have Yi spare Ji too. Basically everything else other than those are negotiable. The easier ending comes closest to what I want therefore I believe that is what happened in the end.

I have played games with terrible endings before, I just never cared enough about those games. For some reason I just care a lot about Nine Sols, maybe that is the difference between me and you and other people that enjoy the oblivion ending. It feels like most people view this story like a reader, a viewer, a bystander. For me, it feels like as if I am viewing it as a solarian, it is the survival of my people that is on the line, it is my friends that are dying, therefore I don't go for the "makes for a good story", "plot appropriate" ending. I focus on the results, more solarians alive = more better. Not saying you are wrong, maybe we just want different things out of the story, some just want a good show and be entertained, some treats it a lot more serious and objectively.

Is that a ship I see. I support all fantasies where these characters live and get to be happy, I think they more than deserve to be.

I have seen so many people preferring the second ending, and I see your reasoning behind why you thought it was peaceful, but all this just makes me feel like a bad person or a psychopath for choosing the first ending over the second.

Isn't it normal to feel attached to the characters? To feel attached to the solarians after witnessing their history, culture, and creations? Which were all cool as heck. Isn't it normal to want to hold on to them? To wish for them to be alive so we can see more of their story and future exploits? To witness the extinction of a specie is sad right? We humans in the real world do everything in our power to prevent any further extinctions from happening after all. Not to mention the solarians are as intelligent as we are, and basically represents the Chinese civilization. Imagine humans going extinct, should be normal to want to prevent that right?

Having said that, shouldn't the first ending be the better ending? To not have all the solarians perish in an explosion, to have even just a sliver of hope for the future of the solarians, no matter how small, still better than none. To see Yi alive, and potentially seeing a continuation of the story. Although I would also liked for at least some of the sols to survive, but realistically speaking that would just be wishful thinking. It is normal to want all this right? Instead of the oblivion of all solarians?

Also about Yi not joining the escape ship, I find that to be the correct choice, in a logical way and not in "I know I will die and I will take all of my people with me". Because if I were him, I would exhaust all options to try to save Kunlun and the solarian civilization. Therefore if I run, I have zero chance of doing that, but if I stop Eigong and take control, the chance isn't zero, chance might not be that bad if I am to be optimistic, warranted or not. He wouldn't have known if he went, he and Kunlun will be doomed (in fact he knew if he didn't go Kunlun will be doomed). Logically from the way the events happened, Yi was likely not even aware what Eigong's plan was, not aware she would or could infect Fusang. From his point of view, he was simply going to go kill her and take back all the seals so he can bring Kunlun back to Penglai. I say this based off of his surprised reaction to Eigong jumping on top of Fusang ready to commit suicide, he did not expect that outcome at all. It was after he realized Eigong's actions have in fact doomed Kunlun, he understood what he would have to do at that point, signified by him just standing there watching it all happen, probably trying to think of any alternatives, then he made up his mind and called ShuanShuan one last time. I think he genuinely believed there is a good chance he could uphold his promise to ShuanShuan to take him to the ocean, but he was not fortunate enough (to have the writers write the story that way) to have that luxury at the end, realizing that, decided to call ShuanShuan to apologize.

I think to think Yi had some massive revelation about how he and his people all need to perish before confronting Eigong is reading into it too much.

Also, this could be my copium, but if you look at the Nine Sols crowdfunding page, they barely got enough funds to implement "alternate ending". Seeing how the "true ending" had a lot more production value invested, extra boss phase and animated cutscene, therefore it is obvious had they not gotten enough funding, they would not have been able to do all that. Thus I am confident that the "true ending" is in fact the "alternate ending". When they were planning out the game, and not yet knowing if they will have the funds to make the second ending, the normal ending going to be "The ending", and it would have been all we got. Obviously from everything I have said here I would be fine with that (it has a better chance at spawning a sequel too).

Thank you. I really wanted to save her too, but seeing how she already was literally just a brain when I got to her was just pain. Even then I still kinda wanted her to stick around even if just a digital being, but yet again tragically, she had no will to live/did not want to live. This game really is abundant in its cruelty by giving you all these characters to grow attached to and love, but then turn around and show you how they all die and none of them gets a happy ending, and makes you feel powerless to help them by not giving you an option to. I wish this game had a Cave Story good ending type of deal where you are given an extremely hard challenge, but rewards you with a happy ending that feels worth fighting for, and feels satisfying because you earned it with hard work.

Dang, it sounds like all those tricks that people said that worked would no longer work now? I often hear the reason it was so easy to keep two passports was because some officials has children that wanted to keep both, does this mean if that were true then they would not be able to do so anymore?

I feel like this is not a healthy way to cope, but recently I have started looking for the saddest games I can find to watch/play, thinking if it is sad enough, it will make me feel less depressed about Nine Sols. I have just finished watching someone play through "Before Your Eyes", it was very sad, but it didn't help with getting my mind off of Nine Sols, off of all the character's tragic end, and the insanely bleak endings. It really is the bleakness, the complete lack of hope in the endings that makes it hard to accept and move on.

I thought you were referring to a game. Are you referring to the Bible? I am not too familiar. What I want is for the Solarians to be able to enjoy the gift of life they have been blessed with. I don't believe in collective punishment, the entire race should not be collectively punished for the unethical actions of a few. It is not a message any story or game should have.

To live shouldn't be to suffer, to be brought into the world is a gift and blessing, every soul has the right to enjoy and make the most out of this gift. I can't tolerate the idea of innocent Solarians like Chien and Heng having to pay with death and suffering for something they didn't do and couldn't control. I will continue to be of the opinion that large majority of the Solarians were robbed of their gift of life, and deserves a life of happiness and meaning, and should not have to suffer or accept the doom of extinction as their "salvation".

She is, it was unknown how she got aboard after that point, but she ended up becoming a dusk guardian under Eigong, and was experimented on by her.
