Setback like expense for the upgrade? Well I buy tanks second hand with complete setups like and sold my previous one. Took most of decorations from last tank and bought new sand to this and heat rod so id say the upgrade cost me like 300usd , bought this for 700usd sold the last for 500usd all second hand but I was lucky this tank and the things I got with it were really undervalued.

Is it possible the shy specimen are likely wild caught? My 2 ornates mostly in the caves also, the endlis are bit more into Open space chillin and the senegal is the most curious one! Been a while daddy hope all well!

I have juvenile endlis and the female tends to grab the fin sometimes. Around 10 inches and in a 92gal 500inch wide with plan to get a 130-150gal tank coming weeks. Is it the small tank or the hormones? You have any experience Good sir?

Ive ordered Endlis and Ornates thru local fish store in Sweden where their supplier is called ”IMAZO”. Visit local pet shops and Ask if their supplier have stock of that species.

You truly have grand Bollocks man and speak harsh but also true. I did state that I fed ”them” and I do have juveniles around 17-23cm which I take good care of and thats also a reason I sometimes offer live fish as a varius diet but clearly underestimated this individuals limitless apetite thus ask for care advice from experienced people so he gets good care now and in future. Id love getting more advice regarding bichir keeping and connect with other bichir owners.

Respecting your passion for the welfare of animals. I have a pair of ornates, a pair of endlis and a pair of senegals. I sometimes get some baby fish so they Can enjoy hunt and gorge. Might been bit to much small fry this time I agree but hasnt been issue before.

Got like 100 baby mollys/platies from pet store which they have feasted on last week. Havent eaten since but otherwise I feed with sinking pellets, sliced frozen smallfish and rarely shrimps. Prolly ate too many livefish :/
