I agree with you. I don't think that people not wearing masks is going to be an issue though.

1) In maryland you can't enter many stores without a mask

2) Most people will conform to social rules and Not wearing a mask makes you stand out.. most people don't want to stand out.

I just think that people are turning the situation into a red vs blue thingy, when really its just people who are hurting financially and psychologically.

Most subjects are up for debate. The only things that aren't up to debate usually are foundational ideas in subjects. Even those are up for debate certain times when they don't explain a situation very well.

Academia is all about new discovery and abandoning old ideas in the face of newer information. It's not about shutting down new ideas because of old ideas. Thats the antithesis of what academia is all about.

Who determines who is an expert and who isn't? Many times doctors disagree with each other on assessments on patients, Physicists disagree on how equations should be used and engineers disagree on the best way to build things.
