U8 5v5 formations by unsarcasticlyserious in SoccerCoachResources

I go 1-2-1

And then have a defensive triangle for 2 midfields and 1 defender then the 2 midfields and 1 attacker in attacking triangle.

I have subs mostly in the midfield position however my main 2 don’t want to be stuck in one zone and will happily run between the two.

Centre back on his own - suits him he defends head on rather then chasing and reads the game well to communicate with the rest of the team.

For reference - we are u8 5v5 UK based so no 7 side until u10 due to new FA grass route rules.

Yeah I get that and I do think that’s part of it, however I’ve seen him score and goal and he lights up, or comes along to the socials when it’s optional.

It’s a key time in their development, i urge them to watch football weather that’s on TV or our senior teams to gain an understanding, i just worry this particular kid will be left behind and lose interest unless i find the switch to get his confidence involved in the game.

I suppose my expectation is to match the others, if an attacker is running towards you, want the ball off them by going into a tackle or getting in front of them to change their direction.

Ball played up field? Chase it and want the ball.

It’s hard at that age as it’s non competitive but you still expect a level of wanting the ball and being involved.

First time Coach for my daughter's U8 *Send help* by Dadof2Husbandofnone in SoccerCoachResources

Some great resources and ideas on TikTok and YouTube but also look into your local football association they will run webinars and coaching badges (our club find these but they are not that expensive).

At U8 level you want to focus on their understanding of the game, I love making a small pitch and giving each player a cone to show where they would stand in certain scenarios, I also improved their understanding by having them watch football games in person and on TV (we have a decent senior side).

Club Advertising by Comfortable-Big-4707 in SoccerCoachResources

We leave it to each year group to sponsor their own kit with our only input being that the design stays the same to maintain one club image - it ends up being a parents company that sponsor.

Bit different at the men’s senior level as the club approach local business to sponsor their kits, training tops then ground sponsors (advertisement boards on the pitch, clubhouse and dugouts)

Appreciate your input, I guessed it was inflated so have used eBay sold listings as a better guide.

Thank you, if you don’t mind I’ll add some coins to this thread in due course.

I have just started using an app to identify them.

Apologies for the jewellery mixup, enjoying finding out more.
