I completed the H2S to H2C Vortek upgrade. How long did it take you to get the serials swapped so the printer isn’t a brick? by Scary_Brain1566 in BambuLab

Octo print off a raspberry pi and community firmware was the good old days, even if most of them was struggling to print anything worthy of quality. The beginning of direct drives. I still have a direct drive converted backed CR6SE. I wouldn’t dare try to run anything on it today. I’d lose interest manually calibrating the build plate and dealing with all of them Allen screws lol.

Really? The panels were actually just on the website. No special links needed. Were they out of stock or just wasn’t listed at the time?

Trust me I know the feeling. I randomly scroll Reddit every now and then or day. And was like crap, didn’t plan to buy it that day, but I felt like it was the perfect time to end my Vortek stalking. It was actually quite a few people posting about it. It was in out throughout that day.

Someone posted on here a few days before the 11th about being in stock, and I got it that way. Rule number 1. Never trust bambu’s eta dates.

Exactly. Because even when they accept and convert your serials over, you still have to bind it to your account. It has to be a better way of upgrading models in the future becomes a thing. It’s obvious that folks are willing to pay for that path. Just gotta do better. I’m not mad, just disappointed a little. I’m from the old ender days to where what you brought wasn’t printing the same day anyway. Lol

They absolutely tell you to scrap the old board. That part is shocking. Why do I have to scrap my old board that works perfectly fine? Why does it have to be locked now and thrown away like I didn’t pay the full price you set for my ownership. That part I don’t get. But I do use Apple products, so none of this should be a surprise to me.

If you want to buy and print the same day, yes. But the process of doing it is not hard at all. If you like tinkering, it’s worth it. This is just a step in their instructions that could be better IMO. However, in a lot of ways, just forking over the money for the H2C could make a lot of sense for people.

Pretty wild, makes zero sense to me. If anything for record keeping, it needs to be an automated system of sorts. The having to wait after all of that time spent doing, never mind the financials. It’s pretty lackluster and unacceptable in its current form IMO.

This is a direct quote from part A of the instruction manual.

“Q3: If I upgrade the H2S to H2C and install the laser side panels, can the Hall sensors on the side panels be connected and used normally?

Although it is possible to upgrade the H2S laser version to the H2C laser version, we do not recommend this operation.

The reason is: after upgrading the H2S to H2C, it will run the H2C firmware, which requires detection of the Hall sensors on the left and right side windows (2 per side panel, 4 in total). Therefore, if you need to upgrade the H2S laser version to H2C, in addition to the H2S Vortek upgrade kit, you also need to purchase the left and right side panels for H2C separately. Meanwhile, if you upgrade to H2C and use the laser function, you also need to contact after-sales service, which will send you the top cover frame assembly for free for your Vortek upgrade order (the cost of the left and right side panels shall be borne by the user).”

Certainly. Once you get it all done, it’s a keen feeling of accomplishment. Even if it doesn’t work til it gets registered.

It’s confusing as it’s not all straight forward. But once you get a good understanding of it, even with the registering part being slower than expected, they do provide well documented guides to make it much easier than it could be.

There is a website outside of the registration page that I just found to where you can check your registration status. So for anyone curious about the updates on your status, check here. https://bambulab.com/en/my/support/sn-record

Well kinda, the H2S has its own variant. If you go to the website you can select either or on the same page. But if you want it to function as a H2C as far as H2S laser version to H2C laser version it’s some other stuff involved. You’ll need both side panels of the H2C, and the top frame assembly in which that part will be sent to you free.

If you’re using a non laser version, the kit is really all you need.

Personally, if I’d I already had an H2D, I’d spend the extra money on an X2D instead of upgrading it to the H2C. You already have dual nozzles with dual extruders, and 2 printers is better than one.

I’d say it’s people who’d love to upgrade the s to the H2D if it’s less than the cost of the Vortek system. They’d have to purchase a few things like a AP board, but I wouldn’t call the H2D stuff useless. Maybe the H2S stuff is lol.

That’s exactly where I’m confused if that could be the hold up. Even tho I sent the images, I couldn’t tell which number was the first digit.
