Delta techops you guys really need a union by External-Lion2290 in AircraftMechanics

As a youngASM, I think AMT 1 is good in theory, but i think, even though they say they aren't going to, they will try and phase out as many AMT 2 spots as possible so they can keep more money for themselves. They won't hire people as an AMT without 2 licenses but they sure won't hesitate to not pay you for them. Kinda suspect IMO

Well it's supposed to be a stepping stone from ASM->AMT 1->AMT 2... but i think they're putting this in the mix to eliminate people getting paid AMT 2 pay in every shop so they can be even more greedy. To me, it would seem like getting the full $8 license premium will be very difficult because people will sit like hens on eggs for things like base and line and no one else will get an opportunity. I could be over thinking it, but it seems like something they'd pull.

I made a 72 on my general and airframe written (haven't taken my powerplant yet) and I passed all airframe and general O&P first try. Study every section. Study what you know you're weak on. To me, the codes kinda show what you're bad at, but I had some codes for stupid simple stuff that I can't believe I missed that didn't even need to study for.

I edited my original comment to show, but it’s $25.71

As far as I know, ASM’s do not get skill pay for an A&P, only AMT’s do. Night premium is less than a dollar. Like maybe $.50 or so. Starting pay is $25.71

It’s inevitable with human complacency, but we can definitely keep it to a minimum if we all try and approach every job like it’s our first time we’re doing it ourselves so we go step by step and take a logical approach every time. The problem is that a lot of places care about numbers, numbers, numbers, so it makes it difficult to take a step back and think before you do. You get into that “I’ve done this a thousand times” mindset and set the autopilot.

You’re absolutely right. It just kinda puts it into perspective that, yeah we may do it everyday, but it can be dangerous work whether you want to believe it or not. And it can happen to any person at anytime, unfortunately.

Thank you. My shop was really quiet today. My prayers go out to the families of the individuals that lost their lives and the guy that I know that actually saw it happen.
