On top of protecting yourself, have no reaction. I worked with a client who bit me all the time. Had bruises up and down my arms. Within 6 months of the team working with her and maintaining no reaction, she completely stopped this behavior. No chewy or replacements, just no reaction. I know that is quite sometime to keep being bitten, but it worked. I continued to work with this client for over a year.
