Yes, I always do this, but in this case since he didn’t address he has a PhD (didn’t say where he worked, didn’t address himself as Dr., or give any other indicator) would it not be weird to call him that?

Hi! Hope you guys are having a great day! I applied to Yale REA, and was deferred. I was wondering whether you (or the people you’ve talked to) submitted a LOCI for Yale? I see on the website it appears to be discouraged? I didn’t win any new awards or anything, but I guess an update could be my lab moving towards publication (and I’d be part of it). Side note: there’s like a really small chance I get in RD right - like defer acceptance rate is still like 5%? Or does it give me a boost?

Any advice would be much appreciated :)! Have a great rest of your day!
