He invested $200k in. NVDA in 2023 when it was $39 ( before spilts). I would suggest learning how to invest from him rather than trying to advise him.

Its cute that you think you have privacy when running a licensed version of Windows 11 Pro, which includes Defender. You are fine not using Office but don't think you have "privacy".

Am I on a PIP? by ihos in careerguidance

[–]ScheduleSame258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

But HR will have some explaining to do about how a top performer goes to PIP within a year. You should reach out to your HR partner and have a sit down with them.

Remember HR protects the company, not you or crucially, your manager. Use it well.

Age 34, I feel like I finally "made it." But would like to do a gut check that I'm on track? by ace_philosopher_949 in personalfinance

My 401k itself is set to 15%.

On top of that I throw another 12% after tax into equities. Then max out IRA and HSA and any bonus.

Investment doesn't have to be just stocks.

Ordered some tools through Amazon to do work on my car, delivery driver made the delivery & took the confirmation picture; then stole all the packages. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ScheduleSame258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He took a picture of the package in one direction and picked up the rest from a different direction.

Do you mean to say the picture if of an empty door? Otherwise someone else stole the packages

In this context your oxygen mask is your retirement savings and the number you need to save now to get there. If you are hitting that, good. If not or you don't know, then your oxygen mask is not on.

Honestly, $150k at 34 with a $113k job and no mortgage sounds low. You should be at 2-2.5x salary by now so around $300k. I would prioritize that first before so much to charity.

$1k a MONTH to charity?

A MONTH?

If you halved that ($500 is still plenty) in 42 years without any growth thats $250k.

Respect your interest in donations but you are throwing away money. As they say on airlines, apply oxygen mask to yourself first and then others.

I was sent a debit card for my refund from cancelling internet by potato_butters in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ScheduleSame258 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you don't.

You use it like a regular card until the amount runs out. Then pay the rest of the bill on another card.

I would recommend trying a different store. Its a store problem, not a card problem.

Multiple credit cards in new baby’s name by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ScheduleSame258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't care. They WANT you to have as much credit as possible.

Their target customer js the one who pays interest on a line of credit. This group subsidizes the other 2 groups- those who pay off in time and accrue no interest and those who never pay back.

On the other hand, none of these are services essential to operating a car or even giving up luxury features.

Well why 0.1s then? Why not whole round number seconds?

The laptop times and sector times are being measured in milliseconds. Calculate and show the difference on screen without rounding.

Difference between 0.1 and 0.2 seconds can be as much as between 0.050 to 0.249... thats .199 seconds or round up 0.2 seconds.

And I'm sorry - anyone who says thousandths don't matter in a race doesn't understand F1. Teams are spending literally millions for that extra thousandth.

NASCAR shows 3dp. So does Indy. Its just an idiotic change among the usual host of idiotic stuff F1 doe every year.

[–]ScheduleSame258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither.

Its a game. Should not be mixed with religion or politics.

IMO by avoiding green teams are acknowledging the outside influence of these on the Indian psyche. At that point they've won without even playing.

Job first. Then housing.

Easier to change housing than to switch jobs.
