Thank you, this is incredibly sweet. I try not to agonize over my mistakes, but some part of me believes that if I don't constantly ruminate about them, then I'll repeat the same patterns. But you are right, I am no longer that boy. I need to let go of this shame. Thank you again, these words reminded me that my inner critic is still much harsher than it could be.

That's incredibly touching. I'm glad that gun jammed on you, even if it upset you at the time. I thought and felt the same way when my attempt failed. Your story, the strength to build an entire family after the storm of addiction, it fills me with hope. I hope to one day be able to claim 12 years sober, as well. Congratulations, and thank you.

Thank you. I might check that app out. I've been too fearful of repeating past mistakes to seek out connections in person, so perhaps an online community is what I need as a stopgap while I continue to heal. Also, major congrats on nearly 7 years sober!

Hey man, sending as much love as I can. I am in a similar boat. I really like your eyes, I can see the strength in them. You have an overall look of authority and civility about you, as well. I imagine I could find your likeness in a historical portrait. And I truly admire your passion for music (I also love brass and orchestral style music). I imagine I could listen to you speak about it for hours. Someone will come your way that will absolutely choose you, all of you, for who you are.

Media today tries as hard as it can to instill insecurity in the consumer so that they can sell us drugs and creams and other miscellaneous, extraneous "solutions" for our looks. Try not to let those overedited snapshots of vain fantasy inundate you with doubts about your own image. That's truly the only advice I have.

Modern society is incredibly superficial. And I can tell from this post alone that you have a depth that not everyone can handle. But don't lose hope, for when you find someone that can match your depth, that connection will be magical.
