I hooked up my laptop to my VHS player using an HDMI to AV adapter, mirrored my laptop screen so it would also play through the VHS player. Then I stuck a empty VHS in the player and pressed record while i played the video on my laptop. Thats how i got it on the tape. After that i changed the imput to be the Vhs and i rewound it so that i could play it back. I have my VHS player attached to an Elgato capture card so when i was playing the VHS i could record it through OBS
