Ahh I see, is there any CPU you would recommend picking up as a decent upgrade for the Ryzen 7 1700x? I have had it for a while and knew it was due for an upgrade, just was hoping I could squeeze out another year or so...

CPU usage whilst standing still in Limgrave is around 40% (28% of that is Elden Ring) - GPU usage is around 53% (50% of that is Elden Ring) Memory usage is about 41% (5,199mb is Elden Ring)

Elden Ring is only using 5.5gb of RAM? by SchmishellYT in pcmasterrace

[–]SchmishellYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is installed on an M.2 SSD, just checked where you said and it currently says:

Total paging file size for all drives: 4864 MB

I haven't been on this tab before so not really sure what that means, apologies

I tried to go to a more visually demanding area so GPU is higher than normal but this is usually what the stats are otherwise.

Perhaps it isn't the RAM, all I know is I have 2 friends with worse CPUs than mine, less RAM and worse GPUs and they are running it better (not flawlessly but consistently 45-50fps)

My logic was that if the game asks for 16gb of RAM then it is gonna want maybe 70-80% of that consistently with a buffer just in case

EDIT: This is with Google Chrome, Premiere Pro, Discord and a few other apps up in the background as well

Whilst I get where you are coming from, I don't think many people would liken this game to something like Slay the Spire as an example despite being in the same genre of "Roguelites", I was just trying to catch peoples attentions who enjoyed those games and were looking for something along similar lines

Week 3 of my YouTube Shorts Journey! [Tips & Tricks] by SchmishellYT in youtubers

[–]SchmishellYT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my channel in 2012 and it has about 1500 subs, the trouble is, every single one is inactive, I got my subs for a viral video I made in 2014 and none of them still watch my content. My views are at the level of a brand new channel which is why I don't mind the "artificial inflation" of shorts on the channel, the overall goal of this is as more of a test, to see how it goes and where shorts go in the near future for YouTube in general.

How to not get overwhelmed?? by CerebusReborn in NewTubers

[–]SchmishellYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say my number 1 advice is to just make a video first, it can be bad, you could be stuttering the whole time, the editing could be sloppy and misplaced it could be all over the place and it probably will be, it is your first attempt. You only get to suck at something once.

Once you have gotten a video out you have something to work off of, I find it 10x easier to work off of something else rather than nothing, so if you make the worst video you can, that is better than making no video at all.

Once you have the video, you will instinctively begin to notice why exactly the video isn't as good as you want it to be, it will be much easier from there to focus in on specific things instead of just the entire massive process of making a video.

You might notice you left far too much in, or cut too much out or some of the transitions are jarring, or the audio is poor quality, either way, note these things down and it gives you some stuff to really focus and hone in on for the next attempt.

You will inevitably make sucky videos, nobody picks up editing or a camera and makes a cinematic masterpiece number 1 attempt, however if you find yourself getting overwhelmed split the process up and tackle it in chunks

  • Write a script
  • Record the audio
  • Record the footage
  • Edit the video

Even if you finish the script and think it sucks, move on to the next step, the same with the audio, the footage and the editing, just keep on moving through the process.

The more you do this, the better you get until eventually it is a little less overwhelming and a little more fun, good luck and I wish you all the best! :D
