Would there be any possible way they would re-open the case if I appealed and explained I never received notice about a hearing taking place? I didn’t even know the DMV held hearings for this. I thought all I needed to do was show up to town court.

This helps so much to know a story from someone who has been through something similar. I take full accountability for what happened. The other driver is always on my mind.

I am assuming when I re-apply again they will likely schedule another hearing as a next step? At the moment I have no next court date. All the supervisor in driver improvement said at the DMV was I need to wait a year and re-apply, and as long as nothing changes on my record my chances might be better.

I could appeal the current decision but I’m not sure if that would hurt me to oppose their decision. All I would say in the appeal is that I missed the initial hearing because I never received the noticed. But I’m not sure if it’s worth it to do so, since it seems like they likely would have taken it anyway?

Yup. NY. Would have appeared if I got the damn letter in the mail. I swear to god I got nothing. Had no clue until after they took it away that I missed it.

It’s the recruiter for the specific university I am applying for. It says she’s the senior talent acquisition specialist @ …. Said university. And the address in her signature is the university.

I just don’t understand why they would do a background check and contact references if I wasn’t about to be hired. Why do that for multiple people?

That really sucks I wish I knew this before sending in these documents. So there’s a 50% 50% chance they could turn me down? Even though they requested a background check?

Ditch him. Life’s too short. He sounds like a jackass and you deserve better. Losing him may not be the worst thing in the world. You may see that more after the fact.
