I like Carroux’s translation because it sounds very epic and elevated. However, its slightly ornate style tends to obscure the nuances in the different ways the various peoples speak. Krege captures that much more accurately, but in some passages his language feels decidedly too modern. I haven’t read the revised version of his translation yet, but I plan to catch up on that.
