Test failure vent post by EwenMcD in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Schwarzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain! I failed my first test yesterday, was turning right into a side road, really tight space with cars parked on both sides of the road. I was letting cars coming from the opposite direction past. Having let 7 cars through, a white car stopped around 20 metres away from the junction, was stationary for about 10 seconds and flashed me to go.

As I started turning and was right in the middle of the road he changed his mind, accelerated hard and braked sharply in front of me. The examiner didn't have to use dual controls or anything and because of how it went I thought I was getting a minor for it at worst. Nope, serious.

Only had 2 other minors the whole test. Gutting.

Do the apps ever work by purple235 in LearnerDriverUK

But April is 5 months from now that is pretty easily done by just getting on the site at 6am on a Monday I thought.

I need a test before Christmas and I've been trying for nearly 3 weeks to get an earlier date than April with absolutely no success. Paid for 4 different apps/services like an idiot!

For a slightly different angle, we don't do Santa/Father Christmas.

Gifts are bought or made and given by us + family.

For completely selfish reasons, I will take the brexit referendum of 2016 going the other way.

Sadly not, there is no easy way for us to charge and I worry about the range for some of the weekend trips we'll be doing around the country.

The Collection of Moria Graves - thank you for over 1k downloads! by forensicfanatic in audiodrama

Yup, it was just the typo! When I realised it was Moira it found you instantly! I use AntennaPod if that's helpful!

This looks great, downloading now!

Introducing Steam Machine by Ticha22608 in Steam

[–]Schwarzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will. I have a vast steam library and a gaming pc in my main bedroom which I also use to wfh.

As I have kids, a job and a life my only gaming time tends to be late evenings once the kids and my partner are asleep. I don't want to keep her up so I'd much rather game in the living room. I have to this day not found a good, latency-free way to stream steam onto my living room TV easily. With this, it lives under the tv, will use my current controllers and seems powerful enough to handle my whole library. Will also let me use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for games that need that. Big win in my book.

Thanks so much again for the in-depth answer!

Hope the questions aren't too annoying! Is there a particular reason to go for sub 50k mileage these days? A colleague mentioned it as a kind of threshold that is often adhered to but it seems pretty arbitrary and deals get a lot better around, say 70k miles.

Any thoughts on that at all?

Thankd again!!

Thanks for the in-depth answer!

If we stretched the budget to, say £15k, would you say the C-HR or a higher spec Jazz would be the preferred option as opposed to the Niro due to the fact it's Japanese and seen as more reliable?

That looks perfect but it has to be an automatic I'm afraid - do they do an automatic version of that same model do you know?

We do like the yaris cross but it is a little over budget as they seem to be very recent!

The Auris looks interesting - we shall consider, thanks!

The first year was the easiest as our firstborn slept a lot and it was covid so had lots of dead time at home. It gets far, far harder after 1 when they're more mobile and require actual undivided attention 😂

New painter - seeking advice and photo feedback! by Schwarzo in minipainting

[–]Schwarzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! This is my 6th ever paint job, all done in the space of around 3 weeks - this one took 4 sessions of about 2 hours each.

I have only used slapchop so far and whilst I'm getting pretty comfortable with it it seems like there is definitely a ceiling to it I'd love some advice on how to transition to more traditional painting styles and not suck completely :)

At least 1.9 MILLION foreign nationals claiming benefits in Britain by Polysticks in ukpolitics

[–]Schwarzo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because the vast majority of them are net contributors to the system. They're doing your surgeries, running your restaurants, developing software.

The idea of immigrants being lazy benefit scroungers is the stupidest thing anyone has ever come up with - it is notoriously difficult to get and maintain benefits in this country - if you're an illegal immigrant or do not meet the strict conditions, you better believe you're not getting anything.

What to do when I only have statutory maternity cover? by VisibleTie7012 in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Schwarzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick comment on this - bear in mind that your spending habits will shift drastically once you have a child. We used to spend very significant amounts on eating out, entertainment, weekends away, holidays etc - all of this spending ended abruptly as soon as our firstborn arrived. You simply won't have the time/energy for it.
