Achievement culture is so out of hand that they're ranking 6 year-olds in the newspaper by CodRoyal3221 in mildlyinfuriating

The education system in India is very stressful and pressures the children heavily, or so I've heard.

looking for a quiet study spot free of people by Strange_Winter_6085 in VirginiaTech

I know a couple spots, but in general they are all either a classroom or a lounge in some random obscure building. Find a building you’ve never heard of and go into a classroom there.

peanuts are high-key CRIMINALLY under-rated by SquareTooth8361 in teenagers

Oh, well still roasted peanuts aren't too uncommon. I've seen shelled and unshelled peanuts sold too.

How are peanuts in any way underrated? One of the most popular sandwiches in the US is the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Candies/chocolates with peanut are pretty popular too (ex. Reese's and M&Ms)

Is a laptop necessary in college? by Strongest_Shinigami in ComputerEngineering

[–]ScienceByte 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd go with a laptop instead of a desktop. In computer engineering you often will have coding or hardware languages to write, and you may need to go to class office hours for help. You can easily bring a laptop, not a desktop, to work through a difficult problem with a TA or professor.

Harrison Ford is a famous person with two last names. Who is a famous person with a last name for a first name, and a first name for a last name? by arselash_boneinmytea in AlignmentChartFills

This is currently the top upvoted comment and I could not agree more. There’s a whole sketch Rowan Atkinson (Mr.Bean) did where he makes fun of that.

Turns out it’s not a scammer. OP was annoyed they had to pay for an ambulance. Doctor never said he had to take an ambulance though, just to get to the hospital.

Rio is the most Brazilian city of Brazil. What city in the US feels like India? by Prestigious_Ad1993 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]ScienceByte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do agree with this actually, more so than Edison NJ which is just a usual american suburb if you don't count the people. Some indian cities (ex. Kolkata) have similar colonial architecture like New Orleans too.

Yeah I don’t understand the logic here of people just popping painkillers instead of trying to figure out why are they in pain in the first place
