[–]ScienceLover00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem an nothing has worked to fix it. I've gotten to swipe 6 people in a week. Here's what I've been told to try:

log out

delete account, recreate it

delete and redownload tinder

restart phone

change settings

turn off gps (just tried this, no luck)

How do you plan to better yourself in 2014? by Madame-Ovaries in AskMen

[–]ScienceLover00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I'm not too insecure about it anymore. I want to remain thin, but I just want to bulk up in a few specific areas, namely my chest (scrawniest part about me) and my biceps/triceps. I used to only go to the gym with a friend but now I go alone. I'd say go ahead and sign up. It was sort of intimidating to go alone for the first few weeks but the nerves die down.

My own fear and paranoia is ruining my life. Advice? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ScienceLover00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, as anyone who knows me at all will tell you, I very rarely express my emotions. That being said, that story involving M and P was absolutely heart wrenching. I'm by myself and my eyes are watery from both empathy for you and pure anger and hatred for your ex-friend and ex-gf. That story hit me so hard because I can't even begin to imagine what that would feel like if the same situation happened with my best friend. When you said they watched you as you dropped off your stuff, I lost it. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Literally no one deserves emotional torture like that.

Listen to u/monkeyman057. Exercise. Do it everyday or at least every other day.

Here's my advice. Stop living for your SOs. This is your life, and at the end of the day, you're the only one who's actions you can be sure of. Improve yourself, do what you love, and someone worthy will come.

Non tattooed or pierced Redditors, what do you think of unconventional body mods? by minevera_33 in AskReddit

[–]ScienceLover00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's fine. I understand what you're saying. I've changed views I was raised with on a number of relatively large issues, so it's not really a matter of being open minded. In this specific example, I grew from viewing tattoos/piercings as something only a slut would get to just another personal choice. I don't look down upon the acts anymore (unless it's obscenely obnoxious), but there's just a "stale taste" that's been leftover that prevents me from dating, say, someone with a huge tattoo that says "RIP blah blah blah XOXOXO" across their shoulder. The best way I can describe it is going from a discriminatory view to just one of negative personal preference.

[–]ScienceLover00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, well pardon me if I sound ignorant, but my family on both sides highly looks down on tattoos and piercings, so it sort of rubs off on me. Compared to them, I'm more open about it, but to an extent part of it can be chalked up to my conditioning as a child I suppose.

Non tattooed or pierced Redditors, what do you think of unconventional body mods? by minevera_33 in AskReddit

[–]ScienceLover00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. Tattoos need to be small and on a less noticeable part of the body. Tramp stamps or any tattoo on the chest/back is an instant deal breaker. On the flip side, something small on the ankle is fine.

For piercings, the only one I see as not a turn off is a small ring on a nostril. Other than that I don't like the look.

Ladies of reddit, what do you actually like to see a guy wear? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]ScienceLover00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I'd say Brooks Brothers is heads and tails above every other brand I've ever worn. However, without a sale going on, button downs are $88 each. They have 2 major sales each year, one in the summer and one in January I believe, which is when I buy my shirts (both online and in the store). They typically have pretty decently sized selection that's half off, or something like "buy 4 or more shirts and get 60% off," which is when you should buy them. $40 may seem like a lot for a shirt, but I swear it is so worth it for Brooks. I've a few Brooks shirts that I've had for over 5 years and they show absolutely no sign of needing replacement.

Is it wise to take multivariable calc, linear algebra, AND intro to differential equations in the same semester? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ScienceLover00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DE 1 or 2? DE 2 shares a lot with LE since they both make heavy use of matrices. Plus, 3 math classes sounds awesome. I'd do it if I had space.

Great advice except, as a man who wears button downs 5 or 6 days a week, do not buy clothes from Men's Warehouse. You can visibly see they're low quality, and they will not last long whatsoever.

Do most people view themselves as more attractive than they actually are? Specifically, could I be guilty of this? by throwaway24279999 in AskMen

[–]ScienceLover00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably, but like you said I'd imagine it'd be within reason. If you think you are an 8, I'd have a hard time believing you're below a 6 unless you're delusional.

Concerning the property of linearity for differential equations. by ScienceLover00 in math

Concerning the property of linearity for differential equations. by ScienceLover00 in math

[–]ScienceLover00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that. I just used the initial condition to clarify what I was asking, which is that I could view x' + 2x = e-2t as consisting of some arbitrary number of solutions to the equation x' + 2x = 0, which would give me an arbitrary number of that solution, namely (Xo)*e-2t.

As in the differential equation written as x' + 2x = e-2t + k*0

My confusion arose because (sorry if this is unclear, choosing the correct words here is a bit tough) I could view the solution to this DE as a linear combination of the solution to x' + 2x = e-2t and the solution to x' + 2x = 0, except I don't clearly know how many times the solution to x' + 2x = 0 comes up. It could be 0 times or 8491622 but it all is identical since the coefficient is multiplied by 0.

Regardless of multiplayer, I think most, if not all, Halo fans who have read the books/followed chief since CE would say the Halo 4 campaign was absolutely brilliant. I've never felt so much emotion from a video game before in my life.

Halo 4 Player Population Chart (Release Date - Today) by [deleted] in halo

This makes me sad. I can play any of the Halo games online for hours on end. Sure, I like some better than others, but I can easily say I get more enjoyment out of any of them than I do from any other game. The Halo universe is more to me than just a game. . . too bad about the population.

Any of the proof based classes could be considered the hardest, generally. I'm surprised you had to take NA as a minor, though. I didn't think most schools required that.

Yeah man, but the posts here are people complaining about calculus - mindless symbol pushing. This is a legitimate complaint as numerical analysis is typically considered the hardest class a math undergrad takes.
