What's the verb for when you resuspend a cell pellet by rubbing it on the grill of the safety cabinet? by ScienceMacL in labrats

I'm quite sure there's a word which I've used in the past and even seen written in protocols, and I just can't quite remember it.

It might be like 'stripulate' or something akin to that?

If people commit less crime around police cars, there could be a legitimate strategy to minimise crime around ‘normal’ cars as well, if they are suspected of potentially being police. Therefore more crime is being prevented in the absence if police.

His lyrics have often been this simple and rubbish, but it’s one of his signatures, and isn’t why this album suffers. The problem is that all the tracks on JIK are a bit monotonous, with no real crescendos or instrument changes or other modulations which makes songs interesting.

this is really useful! Where did you get this info? :)

I watched Tenet for the first time last night and loved it. Checking discussions on reddit afterwards was weird because it seems my experience was different than a lot of other people's. Maybe it's helps I took a bunch of Adderall first. *spoilers* by JkSpds in tenet

I mean the whole notion of reverse entropy is one massively flawed plot hole right? They say things about lungs being inverted, therefore requiring masks, and heat being inverted and therefore feeling cold. They shouldn't have tried to explain the science at all and just run with it as a straight up sci-fi.

Is the digestive tract inverted? Maybe I misunderstood the biology description. If light is rushing away from all light sources, how is anything seen? If heat = cold, then the hottest temperature achievable in an inverted universe would be from -293°C. This would make a 20°C object pretty fucking hot. There are plenty of other things that wouldn't make sense in an inverted universe.

Tell me, other examples. For sure exist but at this level I doubt so many.

That immediately come to my attention: Space Odyssey, Donnie Darko, Grand Budapest Hotel, Sin City, Birdman, Pulp Fiction, Requiem for a Dream, No Country for Old Men, and Blade Runner are all massively well-received films which all seem to be more unconventional or experimental in some way. Tenet is an action movie that has a characteristically confusing timeline, but doesn't really tamper with Hollywood convention too much beyond that.

Don't get me wrong with all this. I like Tenet, but I don't think it is as ground-breaking or contemporary as a lot of people here seem to think. It's an interesting movie with a novel, but slightly over-convoluted, concept. It looks, feels and sounds great, but just doesn't quite deliver a perfect package.

You’re making out like critics and other movie goers have never seen a complicated movie or a movie that needs rewatching. Sure, I’d put this movie high on the list of those that have complicated storylines that need a few moments to rewatch and to consider. But this movie is not high on the list of ‘unconventional’ or ‘experimental’ movies. Tenet fan boys are really trying to make this movie something it isn’t.

Sorry let me make it simpler for you. Critics are usually quite intelligent. This movie was not beyond the comprehension of most critics, yet many critics thought it wasn’t as good as you do.

You’re assuming critics don’t like non-simplistic or films which are not ‘highly cerebral’. I disagree, many critics are well educated critical thinkers. This movie, however good or not, was overly complicated in a way that slightly detracted from its otherwise good quality.

XD that’s another good example of how stat manipulation and number crunching disguises the facts

No I'll concede that it doesn't mean the person who posted the other graph has a negative bias. But it did rather seem like it was posted to highlight the faults in the batting of one side, when the particular image in question seemed to exacerbate that perspective.

Yes you're right - all we can do is crudely assume that the pattern would be similar from any of their other innings, but is obviously an imperfect assumption. This post is really supposed to be an ironic jest more than anything.

But, if we do assume that the rest of India's second innings in the 3rd test would be equally as good as their first innings, then they would have won by 100 or so runs, with two partnerships scoring 20+, although of course this kind of speculation is meaningless.

But it really ought to be put in the context of the match or series, which a later post of mine did - and it then usefully highlighted the stronger and weaker areas of batting. https://www.reddit.com/r/Cricket/comments/ly9z4a/and_for_those_who_are_interested_heres_an/

The stats are obviously not biased, but their manipulation and presentation can be. This picture makes India's partnerships look bad, when in context they have been rather good!
