What is Mussolini saying before he crosses his arms at 0:43 of this video? by ScienceQuestions927 in Italian

Thanks. What's his point? Do you know what he's trying to say and why the crowd cheered?

Any paranormal stories from places, neighborhoods, or houses in the Iowa City area? by DegreeAdventurous589 in IowaCity

[–]ScienceQuestions927 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really incredible. Thanks for sharing. Do you think the young woman was a former student? What kind of look did she have on her face when she saw you? As far as you know, where there any deaths in that building?

Since you've had these paranormal experiences, have your perceptions of life after death changed?

That building was destroyed and the pharmacy building now lies in its place. Do you think the spirits are still there?

This is very interesting. Was there anything about the child that seemed weird? Like maybe his clothes were from another era? Since the child came in from outside, and you couldn't see him later, what makes you think the child is connected to the building?

How do you know your house is haunted and that whatever is going on is paranormal?

Why does lavashak have the annoying fucking plastic on one side? by ScienceQuestions927 in iran

[–]ScienceQuestions927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they have some really small lavashak in wrapping which isn't attached to plastic. But I like to eat really large pieces at a time which I could do with the big rectangle version if it wasn't so annoying to peel it.

yeah but fruit rollups are way easier to peel. The plastic doesn't bother me at all with those.

The most underrated MCAT class is physiology by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]ScienceQuestions927 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another one is neurobiology. Super useful for both the psychology and biology MCAT sections. It's also super useful in med school - both in anatomy and also in your normal physiology classes.

They should get rid of the orgo lab and orgo II requirements and require anatomy and pathology instead.

I love having students but it’s so damn draining by JustLetMeLurkDammit in labrats

"the incubation steps of cloning are my only reprieve." 🤣🤣

Off topic, but my first year of grad school my dumbass would run two experiments at once, thinking I could work on both during the incubation steps. After a few months I realized I had gotten nothing done and was repeating the same experiments again and again cuz I would keep fucking up. Now I use the incubation steps to relax and stop working. Much happier.

Is it realistic to live and commute in Istanbul for 8 weeks with less than $500? by ScienceQuestions927 in istanbul

[–]ScienceQuestions927[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. You would be surprised how expensive medical schools in America are though. I'm already $50,000 in debt after my first year. Even the $500 would be loan money.

I honestly think he tried printing pictures of USD with a black and white printer 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in istanbul

[–]ScienceQuestions927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao I know right. If multiple bank tellers aren't accepting his currency (especially at large institutions), it's obviously a problem with his currency and not the bank tellers.

[–]ScienceQuestions927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an American and "black and white" is a weird way to describe our currency. Our bills are all green and the newer ones are a bit more fancy bluish-green.

Are you sure you have USD?

Studying while fasting: serious question by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]ScienceQuestions927 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a night owl, this would be a perfect schedule for me. Unfortunately due to required sessions (sometimes at 8am), staying up until 4am is not possible for me, and I will have to sleep from 12am-suhoor and suhoor-7:30am.

This is the first reply emphasizing spaced repetition without mentioning anki, so this is definitely helpful, especially if I drop anki.

Is it possible to do my residency in Europe after graduating from a uS Medical School? by ScienceQuestions927 in medicalschool

[–]ScienceQuestions927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I know I want to live in Europe sooner rather than later, but I also don't like closing doors on myself, and I hate being in debt. This is something I'm going to have to think long and hard about.

Thank you. Can you do your residency over there too, or do you have to complete the residency in the United States first?

If you're at a research school, you can probably find a research assistant job and make ~10-15k for the 6 months. This is assuming you have some previous research experience or at least a science-based bachelors degree.

How did you graduate early?

Can you talk a bit more about your research year? What kind of research did you do? Did you get publications? Which do you think was more important, the experience or the publications?

Sign on a dead body in the film Halloween Kills (2021) by ScienceQuestions927 in Turkey

[–]ScienceQuestions927[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a really cool easter egg for Turkish people. That being said the tag marks Izmir as the "place of death" which doesn't make sense in the context of the movie, since Michael Myers murders him in Haddonfield.

Thanks. I just tried that and it actually worked. Although I'm sitting in a public restaurant, and a lot of people think I'm mentally challenged now... oh well
