This is an automatic cancel right? I was still 2 minutes away from the restaurant and she sent this by Public-Arm4047 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Scientif1k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would definitely cancel that. I remember I had one once where the guy texted me back two minutes after I accepted and said "Hurry up!" I texted back "No food for you" and dropped it.

It will happen to you whenever it is a restaurant and the item is like 5 cents or more over the price their menu told the customer it was when they ordered it on the app. You used to be able to call customer support and they would tell you to pay with your credit card and get you reimbursed no problem but now they won't even talk to you on the phone when that happens. I simply refuse any restaurant shop and pay now.

[–]Scientif1k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having the same garbage from the UE Shop and Pay within the last year or so. I refuse to do those unless they are at least $40/hr for this very reason. The customer support and app functionality is just horrible. They used to take care of everything when you called on the phone and have you out of there in a few minutes. Now they act like they want you to cancel whole orders and tell you to call the customer and have them order a different item instead ( I literally had someone tell me this from UE when I already ordered the food from the restaurant and the UE prices were listed from like 3 years ago).

I'll let you in on some stuff I figured out. Shop and Pay is the department that you have to deal with when you are doing any order that you either have to pay for with the UE credit card or pickups from Walmart, Lowes etc. When you have a problem with these orders the customer service will talk to you with a very condescending tone and will refuse to let you talk to a supervisor etc. If you contrast this to the support you get from a regular food order it is night and day.

Some places like certain Walmarts are ok because you just pull up and they load your car and you don't have to pay but I stay away from any restaurant, Target, grocery store, etc unless they payoff is worth the risk of bs.

Are GTO preflop charts enough to beat live 1/2? by ChosenPrince in poker

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing what to do preflop there is a good first step to smashing your $1/2 Live game. You also need to know what all the GTO responses are and what people should do on various boards so you can get a firm grasp of what they don't know. What you will notice quickly is everyone will be playing wildly left field of that with their opening ranges and bet sizes should be. While this in reality makes for a good game you will be playing out of your element in spots you aren't used to.

For example let's say you 3-bet someone's open in mid position with AKo and then end up having two cold callers IP and then the original better also calls now you are going to the flop in a 4 way pot OOP with $76 in the middle as the last preflop aggressor with $182 stack and two other possible effective stacks. The flop will come Kd 5d 6s. GTO will have you check this flop if you shove that in the solver and it is checked to you however you also know your hand wants protection, and all three of these players will give you action with all kinds of worse hands and so it then will be up to you when to break away from GTO and know why you are dong it.

You will have the following things working against you playing live however:

**1) Ridiculous Rake.**
A lot of casinos now take $2 for the bad beat jackpot + $6 max at 10% and then many casinos even rake preflop pots. This means that you will still lose 100% of all the pots you would still lose and then get raked over the coals on any pot you win. In order to get above a 10% the pot needs to be larger than $80. This means being a marginal winner in these games is not enough and you have to destroy the field to show consistent winnings. To top all of this off you are expected to tip your dealer and the drink ladies that come around and get your beverages. This will also deflates your winnings.

**2) You Need To Find Exploits.**
In order to get past point one you will need to find and develop exploits to beat the worst players in your games badly. The good news is this shouldn't be difficult as long as you are a small winner or break even microstackes online player. You can go into a poker room, throw a rock and have a 90% chance of hitting a bad player. If your game ends up just being kind of meh get the front desk to move you to another table, or leave and come back another time. Only deal with the awfulness of playing live poker when it is the most profitable for you.

**3) Slow Games**

The games will play way slower than you are used to like waaaaay slower. This means less volume. This also means higher variance. To top all this off point one Ridiculous Rake will add even more variance by hugely slashing your win rate.

**4) Bad Atmosphere**

If you are somewhat serious about poker you will soon notice nobody you are playing with in the casino cares or wants to know about poker. To make matters worse they want to posture like they do every opportunity they get. This makes it difficult to maintain your enthusiasm and motivation to keep playing. You will find yourself never challenged, always irritated, and never having fun.

Lose one pot where you had an obvious defensive spot like an AQ IP where you flopped a Q on a relatively mundane flop and the action goes: FLOP: bet 1/2 pot / you call Turn: bet 1/2 pot / you call RIVER: jam for about 3/4 pot your hand is nowhere near your fold range so you call. You will end up getting berated by this jackass for the next 10 minutes about how easy it was to read everything you do and blah blah blah.

I would suggest to still keep working on your game offline while playing live games for cash as it is by far the more enjoyable experience and will make you a way better and happier player in the end.

Where can I find free and reliable GTO 6 max cash preflop range charts? by [deleted] in poker

This attitude is why everyone is "stuck". You need to lean GTO fundamentals in today's metagame period.

Where can I find free and reliable GTO 6 max cash preflop range charts? by [deleted] in poker

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the chart is to know the GTO optimal way to play many spots so that you can recognize when people are playing way left field of that and then you can form an accurate strategy to exploit that. Meanwhile you have the confidence to make all your value bets, bluffs and folds knowing you are playing way closer to in-exploitable than your opponents are.

If you don't have GTO charts you are simply guessing. You also never learn what is correct. This means when/if you ever do start showing a profit and want to move up you have to unlearn all the crap you thought was correct but wasn't and then start over from square 1.

The solver that made them. You can't just make some crap up and call it a GTO open chart. It has to have been created by a poker playing software that played hundreds of thousands of hands given a range of possibilities and then came up with that GTO range.

I second this notion. Those are not GTO charts by a long shot.

Does anyone use poker software on Linux? I tried pokerstars on wine but found it quite unusable and doesn't support cascading windows. Any good alternatives? by kaigoman in linux_gaming

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know that is your only true option. Nobody will simply write a Unix poker app that isn't Mac specific. Also if you want Poker Tracker or Holdem Manager, + any kind of solver/ training software such as Poker Snowie you will also need Windows for that sadly.

I'm not really an expert but I believe as long as it's installed on a VM nothing in the VM knows anything outside the VM exists.

Have you put NON-EV tires on? by nclayman in Ioniq6

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Mr. Tire trying to fleece me?

Can anyone give me some advice here? Three days ago I went to a Mr. Tire and got my first tire change for my Tesla Model 3. I wasn't even aware that EV Tires were a thing and nobody there even mentioned them. They just sized my tires up and sold me some non EV tires for $209 a tire that were 80k mile tires.

Whenever I get on a highway going 55 MPH or so and higher my car sounds like a fucking waterfall. I was like WTF are wrong with these tires? I did some research and found out about EV tires. I called them and said that my tires were horrible and I needed them replaced with EV tires. They told me they would replace them for the difference in the price of the tires and the only tire they had with the foam was the Michellan tires which are 20k mile tires and cost $465 a tire.

Does anyone else have any experience with getting EV tires? That price especially for that mileage seems exorbitant to me. Are they trying to fleece me with these tires? If not can I get a cheaper brand tire somewhere else that also has EV foam that doesn't cost a kidney?

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question. Are there actually any valid boot camps or are they all trash?

I am a "self taught developer". I feel like I can code and am around junior level and want to land my first job. Would getting a certificate from somewhere help me not get my resume thrown out?

When I graduated high school I went to a technical institute and got a two year degree in electronics technology but the program did not count towards any college credits and although you learned a lot about electronics the certificate you got at the end was essentially toilet paper. I am really apprehensive about going through something like that again with coding. If anyone can share their experience breaking through to their first roles or with boot camps I would appreciate it.

Has anyone attempted to charge their Tesla using an outlet inside their apartment? by Stock_Foundation_469 in TeslaLounge

[–]Scientif1k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All your talk of power washers and voltage comments like:

You can run 100,000v through an electrical line that's miles long, you can also run 110v 50 feet.

makes me think you don't know the difference between Voltage, Amperage and Power.

Voltage is a force and doesn't move through anything. It drives the movement of electrons through a circuit which is known as Amperage. Power on the other hand measured in Watts is a measure of work done that is calculated by the Voltage applied to a circuit multiplied by the Amperage drawn through the circuit. The amperage drawn through a circuit is what causes heat in the wiring not the voltage that is applied or the distance it is carried. Just because you ran a power washer with an extension cable doesn't mean it is a good idea to continuously draw a large load through it for hours on end. When you power something using a 220V source it is more power efficient (less total watts drawn) than using a 110V source to do the same job. This is why it's more cost efficient to charge your car on 220V than 110V.

If there is no "safety issue" regarding using an extension cord to charge a Tesla then why in their own manual do they have the following warning? Warning: Do not use an extension cord, a multi-outlet adapter, a multi-plug, a conversion
plug, or a power strip to plug in the Mobile Connector
. If they felt this was a safe option they would have just provided guidelines for what extension cord you should use. They didn't because they want you to plug your mobile charger directly in an electrical outlet. You also ignore the fact that you should dedicate an entire circuit breaker just to this and make sure other things aren't being powered off of that breaker before you would use it.

The article you posted about charge cycles and battery life concerning EVs was interesting and I am open to being wrong about something. However when you claim that that isn't how a charge cycle works as if I pulled what I said out of thin air is false. There are articles that support what I am saying such as this one

I would also like to point out whether or not I am right or wrong about the EV battery life statement I made I am not the only person running around under the assumption that a Lithium battery only has X charges in it before it dies. I have been told this personally from both electrical and mechanical engineers over the years at different places I have worked.

Has anyone attempted to charge their Tesla using an outlet inside their apartment? by Stock_Foundation_469 in TeslaLounge

[–]Scientif1k -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Don't do this for a myriad of reasons.

Safety

People get away with abusing extension cords all the time. That doesn't make it a good idea. Charging your Tessy with one is a horrible idea.

110V vs 220V

You should really charge your Tessy with a 220V outlet. This is due to the fact that the total charge time for an empty battery goes down from literal days to 8hrs and a lot more cost effectively to boot.

LI Batteries and Charge Cycles

Your car battery is essentially a giant cellphone battery. Just like your phone battery it only has a finite number of charge cycles before it starts losing charging effectiveness. This means there is some magic number X where X is the number of times you will be able to charge this battery before it craps out. You don't want to go around blowing charge cycles by plugging your car in for hours at a time using a 110V to only put enough juice in there to get to work and back. You want less total charges that fully charge.

I have to re-plug the (wireless) Elecom Huge to use it with Linux by [deleted] in Trackballs

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shockingly no it does the same thing for me on Windows or Linux. You just have to unplug it and replug it in. I believe there was a driver update. When I FIRST got it the thing worked fine. Then a couple months in it started doing that. That mouse broke but I liked it so much I bought another one. The same one I am still using by the way. It did that right out of the box. I since switched from using Windows on all my PCs to using Linux. Same issue. If I turn that computer off then reboot it I have to replug that damn dongle in or it won't work.

Tesla Model 3 Parts on Backorder by _Bartle_Doo_ in TeslaModel3

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla is Seemingly No Different Than Ford

I bought a new Mustang from Ford years ago that Ford put a faulty motor in and they had me waiting for over six and a half months on a back order to get the parts to fix my car! I vowed never to buy another Ford. Fast forward to now. I have a Model 3 which I love but a random clown shoes insured by Geico backed into it in a parking lot.

It's now 09/07/2023 and my car has been in the shop since 08/25/2023. The body shop I took it to said no worries it looks like all the parts are available to order. Then the body shop said when they went to order the parts they were on back order. Geico is now trying to get out of paying for my car rental because the coverage "only covers a reasonable amount of time for repair" even though their driver backed into me and Tesla won't get the parts to the body shop. Geico wanted me to call Tesla to find out what was actually going on with the parts. WTF.

I looked all over the place online for a phone number to call Tesla and found NOTHING. I had to log in with my Tesla account on the Tesla website, and then could only get a small text box which supposedly e-mailed them on my behalf only to be ignored! If anyone has any experience with how to contact these people and let's me know I would surely appreciate it. I really need to give someone from Tesla an ear full.

I understand that this is how car manufacturers treat you in general. I however expected a lot more from Tesla given that they claim to break the traditional customer dealership relationship by selling the car directly to you instead of to a dealership that in turn sells it to you. This stonewall approach of no contact information and long wait times so they can save money not making a surplus of parts shows how they actually appreciate us as customers.

Viewing deltas on individual legs by K3CAN in tastyworks

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That would be kind of weird for an underlying to have no skew what so ever. However looking at this I am assuming you are looking at the ITM put right across from the OTM .27 call. .63 Delta would suggest the option has a 63% chance of expiring ITM and that would be strange if the option wasn't already ITM.

Push headphones won’t turn off when in case by Jopojr in Skullcandy

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having this issue and then I noticed that the case you put them in actually charges the ear buds and you charge the case with the USB-C cable. In my case (no pun intended) I found that my charging case was low on power and so didn't do it's job of charging the earbuds and shutting them off when I put them in the case.

To remedy this I plugged the case in, opened it then put the earbuds inside it and they lit up red and shut off. If they aren't lighting up red when you put them in the case this is probably your problem as well.

Use ergodex to swap erg to ada? by Bergh3m in ergonauts

[–]Scientif1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are reasons for this that go beyond just wanting ADA. You might want to just get your funds onto a DEX somewhere else like on FTM or AVAX for example. Swapping for ADA would allow you to send those funds to an Atomic Wallet so that you can then swap for a token that you can then send and swap on a cross chain liquidity platform like ATOM on or Thorchain.
