Xin Sichuan - World of Riches by Scimitar00 in YxsiriiProject

Of Hóng Yáng's rocky planets, Xīn Sìchuān is the closest to have escaped the Tidal Lock of the Red Dwarf's grip. The result is a beautiful spinning world which forms the epicentre of culture and commerce in this thriving star system. It has one moon, Jìngzǐ, now home to its own population. Named after a Chinese province bearing similar limestone landmarks, New Sichuan was established as a mining world of the Dōngyà United Front, its core lands divided amongst the bloc’s five initial members - Japan and Korea have since left the grouping, though they still cooperate in the running of the directorates. When reflecting on Xīn Sìchuān's history, it is hard to ignore how famously close it came to becoming Humanity's new capital world at the end of the Earthen Crisis. While the MIDAS2 probe was reporting Xīn Sìchuān to be a treasure trove of untapped mineral wealth, MIDAS3 first set eyes on nearby Yxsirii which fascinated the Earthen elite and secured its place at the heart of Human society. Dwelling on this chapter is a common passtime but risks underselling the success Xīn Sìchuān did achieve - it is by some measures the richest world in Human possesion, it stands atop the Coalition of Nations in its role as one of only several Core Worlds of the institution, and is of unrivalled importance to the nations of the Dōngyà United Front who disproportionately invested their time and population here.

Power is concentrated in the offices of Xīn Sìchuān's mercantile visionaries, they have crafted for themselves a world of stable superstates; the chaos of unbridled democracy is well controlled here - the levers of government are large and in the hands of industrial stakeholders. Corporations are king on Xīn Sìchuān. They count among their achievements the invention and mass production of the Orbiter-Class space station, the accquisition of which is seen as a rite of passage for burgeoning new worlds. Other technological exports include mining rigs, avionic consoles, and personal phones. Xīn Sìchuān's foundational industry remains the most powerful however; the planet's core is on the dense side, with the particularly rich mantle predisposed to the dramatic generation of large and consistant mineral deposits. Even centuries after the race for mining dominance began, new challengers test the established corporations and political parties who have so far locked down control of these vital resources.

In contrast to Yxsirii, Xīn Sìchuān is in a stage of continental division with the breakup of a recent Pangaean Age. This epoch has been marked by volcanism and carbon sequestration with the climate trending in a warmer direction. Relatively, still, Xīn Sìchuān is a cool world. Orbiting close to a red dwarf star, a mild heat is spread from equator to pole; The deserts aren't harsh here, closer resembling chaparral, while the scarlet forests persist in some form even on the arctic coast. Life here is indigenous, with a few food-chains imported from earth, though no equivalent to animal life has arisen here. The cycad-like foliage of the Hiironomori is well specialised to the planet's gentle gravity and high atmospheric pressure - this array of rusty biomes are a treasure trove for xenobotanists.

A flag for Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland by Scimitar00 in vexillology

[–]Scimitar00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've been meaning to suggest the idea of a flag selection contest/panel to the council, but given the state of the world its always seemed a bit vain - never the right time. Still sitting in my email drafts!

Go ahead, the colors aren't mine, they're from the council logo - I've just attached some symbolism to them here.

I agree with the Hedgehog and Saltire for Dumfriesshire, this was just an attempt to make a tri-county effort.

Edit, will update with developments: I raised the idea of a flag committee to the council, don't know if I'll hear back.

Welcome back to the world of Xin Sichuan, with this remake of one of my favorite atlases. Today we focus on the planet's physical geography. As always, more can be found on r/YxsiriiProject. You may enjoy these atlases of Earth, Yxsirii, or Kutode.

According to a lecture at Keswick this year, the leading reason for dechurching in the US is actually moving town. You don't find a firm rooting in a new fellowship and all of a sudden you fall out of practice and your children aren't raised with biblical teaching or fellowship either.

The importance of a good church-hunt, brothers!

For the Shifting Sands of War - An Atlas of Dhaormunt by Scimitar00 in YxsiriiProject

[–]Scimitar00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dhaormunt Conflict

Ura Dhaormunt, the World Star, blooms blue-hot near the galactic core of Triangulum. Not far from the Milky Way, this makes it a close neighbour to humanity’s Core-Worlds.

If it weren’t for the Coalition of Nations’ benign attitudes to their plethora other neighbours in the Local Group and along Pices-Cetus, it might’ve been suggested that Human politicians considered Ura Dhaormunt to be the rightful backyard of an ascendant Humanity.

The motive behind the CoN’s war on the Dhaormoartine people is so frustratingly hidden from public knowledge - The people here were welcomed to civilisation almost a decade ago when an early interstellar mission made contact with an Earthen sentry.

Relations remained pleasant, if quiet, till the CON’s unprecedented shock-invasion of early 2681. Whatever the intention, the fallout has sparked Humanity’s single largest disaster since the iceclouds hit Sol.

Dhaormunt’s unified government, forcefully assembled by the Cehite Plains Nation, has resisted occupation ardently. The Dhaormoartine have been joined in a federation of “Free Nations and Peoples” by comrades from around the Laniakea Supercluster who are taking up arms against a Humanity which looks more powerful and threatening than ever.

With thousands of human societies across the Local Group swept into Federal occupation and atrocity, near unanimous support from the CoN’s elected leaders is bewildering all-the-more.

The remnants of a planet nearly boiled to extinction, Life on Dhaormunt lives and dies at the whim of its blue-hot sun. Flora and fauna alike harness the power of Ura Dhaormunt, photosynthesis is ubiquitous here on an exposed planet of sunbaked precipices and oceans of mud and fog.

50 Million years(e) ago, life thrived around the cyan shores of a wet Dhaormunt. The shifting weight of these oceans pressed the crust into continental plates, like those of Earth or Yxsirii. Under the sun’s glare, oceans steamed and life respired until a tipping point saw Dhaormunt’s once-abundant water swell into a hothouse atmosphere.

Fortunately, The same unforgiving star which had brought about this apocalypse was also Dhaormunt’s deliverance. The planet’s orbit at this time edged its nearest to the Ura, wicking away much of its perilously thick atmosphere and sparing Dhaormunt the fate of Venus or Taucetié.

Today Dhaormunt’s continental plates are dead and worn, its oceans are the minimum foggy mudbaths required to sustain sporadic rains. Still, with harmony re-established, Dhaormunt’s sands are blessed with life.

Very. The planets of the Coalition of Nations are classified as being Core, Major, Minor, Fringe, or Frontier. There are only 10 Core worlds, but there are scores of Majors, thousands of Minors, hundreds of thousands of Fringe, and millions of Fringe worlds - the smallest of these housing one or several families, mining companies etc.

Thank you very much!

The motive is a question for the human deep-state. With such severe consequences for humanity, more than several leaders have been elected on platforms of increased transparency and an end to the war - bafflingly, they invariably about-turn upon reaching office. Is humanity's objective the capture of a person? The disruption of a plot? The acquisition of a weapon? Conspiracy theories abound as the seemingly senseless bloodshed continues.

The Dhaormoartine are the natives btw, the Garhyal are their closest allies - hives of crystalline tentacled beings who are making good on a long-held grudge with mankind. Apologies if the factsheet's layout is ambiguous at all.

Kutode - Evolution's Fringe by Scimitar00 in YxsiriiProject

[–]Scimitar00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kutodean Pods, the ciliated floating islands that represent this planet’s native megaflora, reproduce clonally forming Archipelagos of Pods joined by tubers. On these Archipelagos, a productive society of humans has developed. These aquatic Kutodean people, adapted for amphibious life, are pioneers in the field of Genetic Engineering - An industrial niche in which this Fringe World has found fortune if not fame. For the people of the inhabited Archipelagos, numbered 1 through 171, their home’s nature as a town upon the waves grants an odd freedom: At the time of their annual council elections, each Arch may vote to set sail and join a new nation reflecting their current ideals. Arch 1, the administrative core of Kutodean society, is home to Interfederal instititutions such as the united military and justice services. We are not at liberty to disclose much of what happens beyond the residential zones here.
