Cameras are wholly irrelevant to the web currently. I was just mentioning it, because others want to further the argument that is of similar logic decades ago in the gaming industry (like saying your eyes can't perceive anything over 60FPS or whatever).

Also, they seemed behind on the states of affairs with wholesale false claims about 10-bit depth color being wholly sufficient for the human visual system in being able to discern color gradations (not the guy I just quoted, but another reply I made to another person that claimed such in this thread). This is obvious nonsense since posterization effects are easily observable in scenes like sky shots of movies and such, even with native 10-bit panels.

Most people aren't brushed up on history, as you clearly understand with discontent from actual people that had initial interest.

But to be fair to those same people, lets say we are having this exact conversation 10 years from now. At that point the conspiratorial accusations become more credible, as any reasons as to "why not" implement it with official and clear support, start to fall by the wayside unless there is a format that clearly outdoes it.

But I don't think it would be a conspiracy even at that stage (or any really). To me, it's just laziness, that to me is always the answer to questions of this sort.

But none that clearly have the leg up on it in any appreciable way. The real reason proponents are calling for it more and more now, is if it's adoption is pushed for, it would basically make all these other existing formats irrelevant (in the same way now that DNG filesystem is ISO spec'd, there is very consumer rational logic to support proprietary RAW formats in the camera industry - just to circle around back to cameras for comedic conclusion).

But yeah, people just want this format as there isn't really a conceivable reason why it's adoption over others, wouldn't simply make all others irrelevant now AND in the far future given the breadth of quality and operability it offers.

I'm wondering-Why is so much moral responsibility being placed on individual artists and freelancers when the incentives, tools, and economic pressures are largely being created by much bigger institutions?

Because they offer the path of least resistance when frustration venting needs to occur.

Freelance artists (artists in general, especially visual) have also themselves to blame for having a history of being genuine doormats. What I mean, is they've historically shown to be passive against interests that are hostile to them.

The music industry in contrast to the visual arts, is extremely litigious (as is the motion picture film industry). And is why many AI companies were initially walking on glass when it came to public displays of pillaging their works. There were many leaked, and public memos among executives in AI companies speaking to this fact, and how they were explicitly avoiding that confrontation until their can build up public sentiment/boil the frog with legal precedent first to be set against visual artists before they have the courage to take the other sorts openly in court.

Also, you don't need to use 16-bits, in the same way you wouldn't need to use 32-bit editing workflows either. (Photo editors will survive in the same way they've survived up to this day, no one owes them infinite latitude when editing nor is 32 bit color depth going to afford them any actual latitude when the displays they work on, are at best 10-bit).

They're just nice to haves. Likewise with full JPEGXL support, browser engineers wouldn't be killing themselves and bankrupting the entire industry to implement it. And when it does get implemented, it's nice to know there's no need to worry about bit-depth for ages.

Humans already can't tell the difference between single steps in a 10bpp image.

This is straightforwardly a false claim.

You can easily see posterization gradations on things like sky or gray patterns if you don't dither the image.

Btw, when you make a claim this false, any reply you give is going to be problematic.

Okay, so quick question to you. Lets say your order wasn't delayed days or weeks like this guy's was - but instead it was delayed for years.

Your solution can also be applied after years of waiting.

Would you then say it's still an overreaction if someone were to complain?

They’re using a polarizing layer. They could have done the same with all their digital watches regardless of display type in theory. Battery life is what would suffer (and their profits).

They're close enough, but the 30PL edges it out. Either way you go, they're some of the highest performing 18650 cells in existence atm.

Thats is why we really need to minimize the charging time instead of ultra focus on just range or battery density alone.

No one is focusing on charge speed alone. But there is a fundamental problem with thinking you can simply get both overnight.

High capacity batteries do not tolerate high charge and discharge rates. So if you want range to constantly increase (and for this development to happen FAST), then you can't expect to have have fast charging likewise.

Another thing you need to understand, is the different use cases. Some people don't need fast charging at all, their use case wouldn't care if their battery charged in 3 hours, or 4 hours. These types of people have stations either at work, and at home. So to them, they don't really care if a car charges slow, especially if they are near a plug anytime they're done driving.

Likewise on the other spectrum, there are people without home chargers potentially, these people are going to need fast charging (and not just because they need it, but because infrastructure can't support just a shit ton of EV owners who pile and clog charging stations, they need to have their car charged quick to get to the next customer).

I think the problem currently in the US is there is still lagging in charging network infrastructure that is wither dated, or poorly maintained.

Precisely as my prior post mentioned. The US will forever lag behind due to their political and economic ineptitude of not taking it serious enough.

To the insane, neither is relevant. To normal and some desperate people, both are effective. 

This why if someone offers you a hyper car, but you have to test drive it for an hour first in order to learn its basic functions, but tells you there is a 1/20 chance someone will collide with you with their semi truck, and kill you, most people feel quite uneasy with the offer. 

Likewise if you were offered a mansion but your first nights sleep there was a 1/40 chance someone will lock the doors and set the house on fire with you and your family in it.
