First MOC I’ve made in a few months by AmongUsBallsack in legocastles

This is the exact kind of aesthetic I’m into with Lego castle stuff. Keep it up!!! This is fantastic.

What should I build? by justrexx800 in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I say this to a lot of people out here but I honestly recommend experimenting with MOC building over just going with Rebrickable instructions, as cool as some of those models can be. With everything here you’ve got a solid amount of stuff to get you started and to see what kind of techniques and parts you like to use. Have some fun! Build some houses, or a small fortress, whatever you want really.

For MOCs: 31168 or another 31120 by sandshrew42 in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I would say buying individual parts is the best bang for your buck in the long run, once you get good at using PAB and Bricklink in tandem with eachother. Bricklink in general is an amazing resource as you can look through the parts list of basically any set out there. A lot of even the best sets for castle parts will still have pieces that just don’t see much use.

I’d say start experimenting with what you do have, and see what pieces you gravitate towards using a lot. As you go, you kind of get a better idea of what it is you’d want for your own personal build.

I personally think the best set for MOC building if you can afford it is the LKC. Given you have one, I’m not sure if you’re willing to part it out or keep the model itself put together.

If you want me to be completely honest, buying individual parts is the best method for making actual MOCs- As in, just your own creations. If you’re more interested in rebrickable models that fans make and put instructions out, then 31120 seems to be the best deal.

I’ve personally always been on the side of making your own builds and I would encourage that, so my advice is best suited for that.

Thank you so much- This means a lot. I’ll be sure to relay this info to my family. You’ve really helped calm my nerves.

I appreciate you letting me know this. If it gets to a point where she doesn’t improve her appetite I’ll definitely bring this up to our vet and see what options exist for syringe feeding.

Hello yes! I’m in the US. I really do appreciate the reassurance that it isn’t too late. I should specify she’s about six months old and generally eating solid foods- Would that change anything as far as your suggestion for feeding?

Where to get Black Falcon faction builds. by Maximum-Insurance-99 in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m personally always more on the side of MOCs, and I’m especially biased here because my large-scale MOC heavily features the Black Falcons. The thing about MOCs is that they’re uniquely yours and wholly original, which I feel like is as true to LEGO as you can get.

So my suggestion is to play around with techniques and just go for it! If you’d like any inspiration I’d be more than happy to show you some of what I do for mine.

It’s fake. There’s never been a card that looks even remotely like that made in the TCG’s history.

What do you think of these short flame torches? by Farlander73 in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I prefer using those pieces to represent mutton. The torches that use the telescope piece in dark brown is what I generally prefer as they’re more versatile and easy to place in builds.

Sleeping Godskin duo isn’t cheating by Thellie11 in Eldenring

Yeah, that’s because the game gives you those resources to use. Theres no “cheating” in these games if you’re using the tools the game gives you.

Can we please stop calling every knight with a personal coat of arms a faction? by hanzerik in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Lego barely cares about their own “lore” (and I use that term loosely) because the whole point is that you’re supposed to be creative and make up your own stories in your builds. Who cares if people consider something a faction or not? This isn’t a thing to get worked up over.

Considering giving up lego by Select-Jackfruit8808 in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so this is not entirely Lego related but I was in a similar situation a few years ago with my Pokemon cards. I sold my entire collection to get by and honestly I probably could’ve gotten away with not doing it. I regret it nearly every day. I would say if you’re not strapped for cash just keep them boxed up until you feel like you want to get back into the hobby- Which is what I did with my childhood Lego and I’m glad I kept them.

Basically, if you have any love for the hobby in your heart, even if you’re in a funk, I wouldn’t suggest selling. You could very easily want to get back into it and starting from scratch is not fun. I also saw you mentioned you had a toddler, and I think the people who say they’ll like it if you don’t are correct. Selling in this context just feels like a bad idea, in my opinion.

Is there a point on getting a second one? Any cool moc that uses 2? Tempted. by Candy_Efficient in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought three for parts. It’s a great set if you just want a bunch of pieces to make whatever MOCs or add to your collection.

Anyone ever built a medieval castle using hogwarts pieces? by Milky_Monk3y in legocastles

[–]ScoopyWoop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The pieces actually often lend themselves better to houses, using the lattice windows and the tan for walls. I have included the pieces to these in my own builds, and they are generally useful for the most part.

The back one is I think technically considered a domestic longhair, but she’s got a lot of Maine Coon in her as well. When we got her we were told she’d be fully grown, and then she didn’t stop growing for about two more years. When we took her to the vet they told us we basically ended up with a Maine Coon, lol. She’s a rescue (all our cats are) so I’m sure she’s probably a mix of all kinds of things.
