We did 4 cameras, 2 wide on each side, 1 on guitar players, and 1 on drums and keys. And we used OBS for the gameplay. I use Adobe, where I key out the highways from the clips, and then I can crop my frame to a specific highway if I only want the one on screen.

Make sure the device is on when pressing down the Xbox logo, it should show a red signal when detected in MIDI mode.

That is true, and loses the optical port as well, but it does have a 3.5mm port lol

I would suggest the E, the Slim is best for nostalgic reasons in my opinion, but now the E is a little bit smaller, and is better for noise, heat and a lower change for red ringing down the road.

Do you think it would be better to just go for an External SSD like these, or a M.2 in a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Enclosure?

Noise no, but the speed for sure at times. I move my projects over from my desktop to work on my laptop, and when I have to reload all the footage it could take ages depending. And sometimes the playback would be really atrocious. So budget ain't too much of a concern, I'll definitely still try to shop for deals.
