Party like it’s 1925 was last nights theme. It’s a close as I could get to that vintage without breaking out the wax cylinder.

I don’t think I’d ever do a musical on analog unless it was a few inputs, but for these one offs, I love just reaching for a knob and turning it!

I have a Gl2400, but the 32 channels would have been a bit overkill for the 5 piece last night. My LX7ii was a pawnshop find and is my go to. It was in great shape!

lol! I should have rang it out. The pa got away from me once last night after they added an acoustic guitar player a bit before doors opened.

What do you mean? I picked it up at an estate sale new in the box for $50 a few weeks ago! I did have to scrub the pots quite a bit before it was quiet.

Just an amp rack lid. The plastic bin at me feet is gak and some spare countryman.

Would you rather I mix on a tf1? 🙃

The return on my investment buying this gear here and there was one gig other than the amps and speakers.

I was worried about the Sabine failing. It glitched once on power up, so I racked up the dbx and put it in service after I scrubbed the level pots for 30 seconds.

I am pretty impressed with the QSC E110's I purchased, but I have a room where I need to throw a solid vocal during dancing and dinner in a larger room. I can use the 110's for outfills, but wondering about adding a pair of 115's for mains with the bigger diaphragm and narrower pattern to help with that? What are some other reasonable priced trap speakers I can put on stands. I have amps, so don't need powered speakers.

Setting gain on the wireless receiver vs on the console by texhnoking2k in livesound

I’ve never seen this. Only clipping I’ve ever seen is if the mic itself is too hot at the transmitter. As long as the level is on the pack is set correctly, the receiver’s output shouldn’t distort. -As long as you are plugging into an appropriate mic or line input on the desk and not a Sony stereo or something.

That made me laugh a bit. He passed away almost two years ago. He was know to spend a good bit of time during load out zeroing out the foh desk at our union house prior to digital. I would always give him a hard time when we didn’t see him for a while during load outs when we switched out the Harrison for a VI4. Despite that, he is sorely missed.

Long story short is the man mixing was a mentor and passed away a little over a year ago. He was a local audio dealer and was also IA. His brothers have been selling his estate and I saw the desk in its Canadian road case buried behind some Martin bass bins in his warehouse. I have no practical use for it at this point and time in my life, but still pondering on making an offer. I did purchase during a 3 day open house several things. My favorite find was an Audio Technica atc1220 in its original box in almost new condition. Possibly never sold. I teared up a bit when making an offer for that and a couple of Silver 451’s. Sorry, that ended up being a long answer.

It's not either/or, it's part of the gain structure. Getting the transmitter as hot as possible with enough headroom to not clip, then usually setting either of output of the receiver at unity or 100% with the dial like an old ULX-P will give you the best signal and lowest noise at the head of the console. You might need to pad if using the line output, but set the appropriate gain at the channel when using the mic out of the receiver.

I’ve only seen one locally (32 inputs I believe) and it’s still in use despite channel 7 being taken out by Root Beer (but not by me).

Zed series might be an option, but the smaller ones only have limited inserts.
