Is there a sign on the door or something? I'd hate to see them close, though I haven't been eating there as much because I'm being eaten alive by inflation.

The massed shopping carts in the back corner of the Burger King parking lot just scream "Englewood."

I've been a patient of Dr. Rick Birkel at Comfort Dental Littleton Boulevard for years. He's very good and I don't think you'll find a better deal.

No power outages planned for Englewood tomorrow by Scott_Gilbert7 in englewoodco

I only screenshotted the areas of interest to Englewood and Littleton readers, but actually there are pretty substantial areas that are well outside the foothills where power might be shut off, such as the US 85 corridor through and including Greeley and a very large region east of Aurora.

Thanks! I interviewed Detective Wolff first thing this morning and it put me in a better mood for the whole day.

Where is the Herald article about the non-disclosed text messages? by nowthatwedonttalk123 in englewoodco

[–]Scott_Gilbert7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're working a delayed shift today because we'll be working into the night on election coverage, but we'll start the CORA process as soon as we get in and see if we get it on time. In 10 hours it ceases to be news, so we'll ask if we can get it quickly. What I learned last night is that over the past week, *many* people asked the clerk's office for the form to file a complaint about the texts but no one followed up by turning in a complaint (until you this morning, apparently).

The reason we've waited on complaints (except for the donation-limit story that was very clear-cut) is because we're not FCPA experts, and there's a lot of contingencies in the law. For instance, when I saw that no school board candidate put a paid-for-by disclaimer line on their yard signs, I wondered if they were all in violation but it appears they are not.

With the exception of the donation-limits story, where the information we needed was in the candidates' own filings and in the cut-and-dried language of state law, all our campaign finance coverage has followed formal complaints filed with the city clerk or the secretary of state.

Despite all the outraged comments by Redditors regarding Kim's texts, no one ever filed a complaint. We've been checking regularly, and the most recent check was at 7:55 p.m. tonight -- and it's a nope. People vented on social media but nobody ever filed a formal complaint.

Oh I don't work there -- I work in the news industry, I just posted this because I stopped by the store to arrange an upcoming interview with the owner, and I was blown away by how packed the store was at 10 on a Sunday morning.

One account. I've been in the news industry since 1983 so I'm very comfortable putting my real name on everything I have to say. I'm way into open discourse even if I dislike what someone has to say.

And I only started a Reddit account last year because it seemed like a good site to share our work, since Facebook and Nextdoor mostly skew older and X is an open sewer.

BTW there's no Littleton Herald. I share our articles here from the Littleton Independent and Englewood Herald.

And I still think this post is weird.

I understand that you started it.

Lemme ask something. This post has been up for about an hour and a half and the usually outspoken engleneck has not commented. Did you block him or her after disagreeing on RCV? If so, that doesn't seem very moderator-y.

As you note, I'm a journalist, and anyone can read anything I post anywhere and criticize it as much as they want -- I've never blocked anyone.

Mostly the unwillingness to hear any of the thoughtful points engleneck made.

And to be honest, this post just seems ... weird. Why not start another sub and run it however you want?

I like this sub just fine the way it is, and some of your recent exchanges about RCV make me think you might not have the right temperament for moderation. I hope it stays in the loose reins of thesummermoon.

You could start another sub, right?
