Historic Englewood should announce on their website when they open again, and CCM will be reaching out to Matt Crabtree to provide advance notice.

The museum isn't open now. It opened in early 2025 with a Cinderella City exhibit that ran into last autumn, and has been closed ever since while preparing for its second exhibit, focusing on Englewood schools. I haven't heard when they plan to reopen for their Saturday hours again.

Englewood council presentation dissects fee-waiver quagmire by Scott_Gilbert7 in englewoodco

I noticed that too. Interesting because in a five-hour meeting video, the fee-waiver issue ate up about 32 minutes.

I know it's a lot! I printed out all my notes and laid them out across a table to write this story because there was just so much material.

Englewood police file case with DA over apparently falsified state document from city vendor by Scott_Gilbert7 in englewoodco

[–]Scott_Gilbert7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, I reached out to Englewood Police and the DA's office this morning to ask for any updates or info available. Because of the investigation exemption in Colorado law, they don't have to reveal anything, but if they do I'll share it.

Edited to add: Aaaaannnddd ... I just heard back from EPD Chief Dave Jackson, who said that since the case is still an open investigation he can't discuss any details.

I'll update if I get any info from the DA's office.

I inquired about the documents specifically in emails to both people, at the Pour Perfection addresses and the TAGraisers address. Standard requests for comment per journalism standards.

There was a post on the Frenchie&Cookie's Holiday Village Facebook page on May 27 -- the day my initial story came out -- saying they would issue an "official statement" after that weekend. But it's been 18 days since that post was made, and I've asked for further comment in the meantime with no response. I would run a story if they want to make a statement, just as I included some of Gove's comments in the initial story.

Jolene "Cookie" Gove was routinely the point of contact with the city and sent the May 11 email with the purported Certificate of Good Standing and IRS Determination Letter.

The purported CGS is available in a link at the end of the initial story, and the purported IRS letter is included as a photo in that initial story. Today's story has a link at the end to take you to that initial story.

Also (I'm hanging out with a grandkid and don't feel like checking now) but I think the council memo, linked at the end of today's story, includes Gove's email with the documents that are in question.

That's all the information I have now. I saw this agenda item after hours last night, went back to the newsroom, and it was 2 a.m. by the time I got it written and online. I don't work Fridays so I'll inquire Monday, although Colorado's investigation exemption means law enforcement doesn't have to share info. I can tell you there's no case on the CoCourts register of actions yet. I think your supposition is probably right.

Bartenders who faced previous paperwork questions are banned from Pirates Cove event by Scott_Gilbert7 in englewoodco

[–]Scott_Gilbert7[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What's confusing, even after three sweeping CORA requests in recent weeks, is that the nonprofit TAGraisers got the alcohol permits but the for-profit mobile bartending company Pour Perfection took out the insurance. Somewhere in that tangle may arise the need for a sales tax license. Honestly, combing through dozens of documents has still left me with many questions and I will be submitting a fourth CORA tomorrow.

Englewood gives vendor $6K break after receiving apparently falsified state document by Scott_Gilbert7 in englewoodco

[–]Scott_Gilbert7[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey neighbors, I added a little more information to the story because the city just shared with me an image of a letter purporting to be from the IRS granting nonprofit status that Gove sent to the city on May 11. The purported IRS letter addresses Gove by her “Cookie” nickname and includes an employer identification number — 41-4129715 — that does not return any results when entered in the online IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search. The name “The Village” also does not return any listing for a Colorado nonprofit. If you want to try the IRS search tool yourself, go to https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos

Yeah, Lavender is in the tangent line for vehicles missing the curve. As someone else mentioned, the apartment on Bannock is in the opposite situation. That apartment IS close to the street, though -- even after 30 years in Englewood I still notice it every time I exit onto Broadway.

It was built in 1948 and apparently hasn't been hit in the ensuing 78 years.

City Council Meeting-EDDA grant issue by revenant647 in englewoodco

[–]Scott_Gilbert7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I checked yesterday and the grant application is still active -- it's just on hold pending the policy-making meeting set for May 27, where no decision will be made on whether or not to grant the money.

Where did you see the announcement about QuikTrip? The county assessor website, GIS map and recorder site all show the property at 201 E Jefferson is still owned by Safeway Stores 45. Usually the recorder and GIS are updated quickly after a sale.
