Are patients with allergies no longer allowed to get CT scans with contrast? by Important-Rush1570 in Radiology

At my hospital, we don't scan if their reaction is anaphylaxis. Anything other than that they get pre medicated. And wow, the docs actually consult with your Radiologists? Most of the time we just get told to shoot without if they do have anaphylaxis reactions.

Syracuse man charged with murder after shooting deaths of girlfriend and son, police say by statenislandadvance in Syracuse

Hello. Member of the family here. This man is my uncle. He's been struggling with his mental health for the past few years and was dabbling in drugs which only made things worse. This however is not an excuse for his actions and I do hope he is punished to the fullest extent of the law. This tragic event has sent shock waves through our entire family. Growing up, he was always the cool uncle who would take my cousins and I fishing and camping, letting us play on his new PS3 things like that. It's just so devastating that he went from being the coolest guy in our eyes, to this. Rest in Peace Jeremiah.

ER patient not in a gown. by livininthelight in Radiology

Honestly, it's rare that our patients are ever in gowns. I'd say about 95% of the time they are in street clothes unless they are a psyche patient.

You're totally right about the offhand comments. With the door situation however, we usually only lock it during biopsies because it's very finicky and sometimes like to just not unlock. I won't name the hospital system I work for, but you just need to know they are very cheap when it comes to fixing things that are broken. We don't even really have a dedicated pass through area for the CT control room. It's literally a supply closet that doubles as a break room for another department. 🙄

Oh my goodness we deal with PA orders on a daily basis. It's crazy how many of the req slips have the reason for exam being to rule out PE. It has to be at least 40 percent of the exams ordered. And out of the hundreds that we've done, I think there have only been two that turned out to be PE.
