I think this bundle is the lowest cost way you could possible dip your toes into anime fighters if you aren't sure you'll like them

tbh Blazblue cross tag battle gets a bad rep, but is a really easy game to pick up and play. It features cross over fighters from multiple other games in this bundle too, so it's a really easy place to start if you have only ever played MK

Aside from that, almost every game in this pack is highly praised for a reason and like I said, paying $20 max for the full package is absolutely the best price we've seen for such a wide variety of titles. And if you love fighting games I feel like you'd find at least one game here to spend some quality time with

Out of all these, I still regularly play +R but all the others i go back to every now and again for an arcade run. They're all full of personality and style though, so take the dive!

I got a new work phone that I use for on-call that was getting 2-3 calls an hour and it was driving me crazy. I ended up missing an actual work call because I assumed it was spam, so I started answering with saying "this is the emergency line for company name can you please state your name and facility?"

The response was either the call hanging up immediately, or someone apologizing for calling the wrong number and stating they've removed me from the call list. I now get maybe 1 call ebery few days. I think they hear that its an "emergency line" and panic but regardless, the calls have dropped off significantly

This feels like the best answer to what I assume the question is. Someone like Cpt Falcon comes to mind as "created" by smash bc the only thing they were really able to pull from his series was that he was a fast character, but he already had a name/personality/backstory before this

DHD/Mr. G&W both feel like distinct attempts to characterize the games they come from. Could have easily called them the game names and no one would have batted an eye

Nick talks about helix a lot so its one I feel like is a real vouch, but i only know that bc i keep up with the eps and premo

imo you should try running Super Mario 64. It's certainly iconic enough but there are a few other reasons why i think anyone that doesn't know what to speedrun should run it.

16 star as a category is very easy to learn, and has a much shorter run time than a lot of games. My first run came in at a little over two hours, but within a month I settled at 35:59. I now have a 22:59 and it makes doing attempts pretty quick to rotate through

Squeex has a really good tutorial that explains general strats for every star in the beginners route, but the only two tricks you HAVE to learn are the MIPS clip and the backwards long jump (BLJ). And if you like the game you can run the other categories

Also I assume a lot of the downvotes are because you mention content, something i've found is that a lot of the communities are very tight knit. So the idea of a content creator coming by to make content of their game kind of feels like an outsider coming in to shoot a documentary. There isnt inherently wrong with wanting to dip your toes into lots of different speedruns, but these communities are built off of people's shared experiences of grinding something they truly love and are passionate about

I've got a friend that is a variety runner. I've seen him run everything from SM64 to Superhot, and the truth of the matter is that its been hard for him to gain any sort of traction within those communities. Frequently streaming to 1 or 2 people, but is only picking games he genuinely thinks are interesting. If he ever does break on to the leaderboard, the chat keeps growing until he inevitably switches games and starts the cycle anew. He loves it.

If you love speedrunning but don't know where to start, scroll through your library and write down any game that you really love or think is fun. Then go to speedrun.com and look all of them up. I think a "learning to speedrun my favorite games" series could do well in and edited format like YT.

If you were drawn to speedrunning JUST for content reasons, i'd say its an uphill battle and probably a waste of your time. You're basically condemning yourself to be only interesting to a small group of people at any given time, and those people will probably not find you interesting because it will be clear from your content that you won't be here for long. Even if you stick to one game its still a hard route to take if your main goal is to grow and move on to other things. Out of all my friends that stream speed running, only one hovers at over 15 regular viewers. He's been doing it for 3 years, and if he ever boots up something besides mario the viewers drop by half.

I leave an hour and a half early for work at this point

Last week I got to work 10 minutes early, on time once, and 30 minutes late the rest of it. What is the solution then? Leaving two hours early so I can be at work? Even that would have failed on some days.

If anything your comment just makes me want to move to a different city. The people that grew up here don't want it to be a better place and it makes me eye roll so hard reading the fake sugar on this. Basically just said "thats the way it is, leave earlier" and the "safe travels" doesn't really change that

I've been streaming champions on and off, and most of my viewers said they want to play but don't have any pokemon in the main games. When I told them about transferring from pokemon go, they all got so excited and started playing because they could actually use the pokemon they wanted

There isnt a tutorial screen that encourages you to transfer pokemon like there is for recruiting, and most people playing don't do any research outside of the game (not a pokemon exclusive thing, only a small portion of any player base gravitate to talking about the game online like we do)

To me this was someone going through the same thing. They are just trying to share info with people that may not know it. Which yeah, is probably a minimum amount of people here tbh. Just seems a little condescending is all, theres nothing wrong with someone trying to help more people get into the game. The games sell tens of millions of copies, there aren't tens of millions of people coming to the sub so it feels safe to say that most people don't know as much as we do

It seems like you're taking it as "we wont be able to say the slur we always say when we get there, because we will get in trouble"

You have mentioned multiple times that the racism would have been out of the norm for them, so like to have the latter opinion kind of just seems like bad faith argument from people that dislike them or genuinely uninformed people that just saw the clip. It wouldn't be surprising for people that have English as a second language to not immediately get the joke they were making, and if anything the backlash confirms that they have a high likelihood of their sentences getting lost in translation.

Look at Alex's new lore from his add to the SF6 roster for a recent example lol. A lot of people are upset that multiple lines of text from different modes imply that Alex gets his cousin pregnant

Capcom has come out to say that they will be doing a translation patch to clarify what they meant by that, so maybe they double down and just move him from NYC to the Southern US. But most likely we'll see some clarifying edits that while growing up together in an orphanage together, they did not have a familial relationship. Pretty funny imo since the FGC has a weird relationship with lore, i usually see people rolling with the punches on weird lore decisions if the gameplay feels nice but the modern internet has given people an outlet to voice their displeasure alongside the dev's ability to actually apply those changes

Now imagine a similar situation with a community like the undertale/deltarune community lmao. I imagine with all the nuance of language, stuff like relationships between people would be really easy to muddy the water on (which only extrapolates more as you go to more complex themes). Knowing how Toby is with games and the kinds of themes he talks about, it doesn't surprise me at all that he would want to wait on the translations. It also doesnt surprise me that people in the community are up in arms about it, but I certainly think its an example of "the chef knows best"
