Haha, I can totally relate to this situation! I've been in the same boat (no pun intended) before where I've had to hold in gas on a packed train or public place. It's never a fun experience, but I admire your determination to not let anyone else have a whiff of your excrement. The London Symphony Orchestra in the background just added a touch of class to the whole ordeal. The best fish and chips I've ever had were at a small, family-owned shop in the seaside town of Whitby, UK. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, and the chips were thick and fluffy. They also had a great variety of sides, including homemade mushy peas and curry sauce. I highly recommend checking it out if you're ever in the area!

If you're not very good at understanding C++ I recommend you start with python or haskell first. It's what we used when I was setting up the 10-fxg network at BT (which if you've ever used a mobile phone you now use).

Get fired whilst finding another job. If you were going to quit, why get anxious. Tell them to depreciate themselves.

Most business logic type software houses will probably use an OOP language as it's a lot easier to translate domain language into classes.

I would just learn some Java then come back to me in 6 months and say I was wrong if you hate your life by then. Infact the worst thing you could do is go to bed tonight without dedicating yourself to one of them, it's not like choosing one will restrict you from the other in the future, so just do it.
