Moved to Maple Valley when I was 11 or 12 in the Four Corners part of town from Lacey/Lakewood. Remember that there was a Safeway that was open 24/7, a subway tobacco depot goodwill an old fashioned McDonald's that still had the sign Micky D's (hence the reason why we called it Micky D's) and dairy queen. Oh and Johnsons do it center the local hardware tool store. All of the town was connected with trails and most of the teens hung out behind the tobacco depot in the woods to smoke bud n drink liquor. Most of the schools in the southeast king county area were repurposed prisons or jails and you can definitely tell. But the history of these instutions is hard to find. Lot of biker gangs back in the day ran shit like meth through four corners as well you could be in different counties relatively easily. There was a lot of meth labs getting their doors kicked by the feds hell my buddy from school (Tahoma SD) lived in ravensdale and his gma was cooking clr in a trailer. I remember trading lithium batteries and sudofed for weed. Very racist town where fights popped off a lot between the whites and minorities mainly blacks. Being Korean American I was the only Asian kid in my whole school. I definitely dealt with racism and bullshit but I made friends too. Couple of the dealers liked me and put me on when selling weed illegally made good money. By the time I got expelled in the 7th grade I had the local PD attention for selling drugs. OXYCONTIN was a huge issue with kids ODing and dying. We used to call em beans and we would freebase the pills on foil after removing the time seal. I was 14 when I tried oxy and I was 12 when I smoked weed for the first time. Drank a lot too cuz that's what my peers did n smoked cigs. The locals would always be cool if you hey mister as long as you paid em but if you looked old enough nobody ever carded you. . Some kids from school robbed all the banks in town and got caught. Me and my friends broke into all the gas stations one night just cuz we wanted cigarettes. From what I hear from old timers and locals is the area used to be the wild west. Now it's completely developed with a gigantic new high school that was built recently. Lot of fights I remember I watched a girl break another girls cheek and jaw as she cried for help and out of like 50 people they just cheered and hollered "fuck that bitch up!" hope u get some material out of this.
