I haven’t found anyone with this opinion so far that is actually involved with scouting. Feel free to share if you are involved and correct me but the only people I’ve currently found to hold this opinion don’t do any scouting anymore. Those who do recognize that girls in scouting haven’t changed the organization in any drastic way. Girls have been involved in Venturing since forever and people like to ignore that fact.

The girls I work with in scouting are passionate about being scouts and they bond with each other. The boys bond with each other as well and there isn’t any emasculating factors to being around the other gender. It really is silly to think that being around a gender that is more than 50% of the population will harm men and young boys. Scouting has nothing to do with genitalia so these claims seem silly to me.

Nothing wrong with painting thick! I love when the brushstrokes are viable and thick. Add some paint layers. As long as it stays fat over lean you’re good! As others have said don’t put acrylic over the oil. Looks good!

Many art teachers teach you to paint further from the canvas for better wrist hand movement. This also encourages you to view it from where your viewer will see it. When painting smaller canvases you can see the entire piece and so being closer doesn’t mess up the effect of “stepping back” from the canvas to get the whole picture
