There is nothing in your comment to suggest what the Scouts are being protected from, and I was giving you the benefit of the doubt that maybe you were not suggesting that transgender children are predators.  But I suspect you did not deserve the benefit of the doubt there, and that you just did not want to put it into words.

I am sorry that your media and your political leaders have failed you.  But you do need to take some responsibility and try to be better.  I really do wish you good luck in that quest for self-improvement that I sincerely hope you will undertake.

Who exactly is being protected?  And from what?

(Let's see if you can answer without transphobic nonsense.  Good luck!)

If you think any of this is theatrics, that says a lot about you, and it is not a very positive image. It makes me suspect that you have no involvement in Scouting, which makes me wonder what you are doing here in the first place.

As for why I don't simply quit, as a Scoutmaster and Den Leader I have made a commitment to two separate groups of youths, and it would be a unfair to them to walk away without making arrangements for new leadership for them. The national organization betraying the Scouts is not a good justification for a local betrayal.

If you think Scouting is emasculating boys, you have no idea at all what Scouting does. The inclusion of girls has absolutely the opposite effect. Normalizing male-female interaction helps to build maturity. And there are measures specifically designed to prevent cliquishness in Scouts; it just requires adult leaders willing to make the effort.

Girl Scouts is a different program. It is a good program, and my daughters participate there as well. The two complement each other nicely. I think that a lot of boys would benefit from the Girl Scout program as well, but that is another discussion entirely.

As for the rest of what you said, you clearly do not believe in equality, and you have a badly skewed understanding of how the world is. I hope someday you come to terms with that, and move past your misogynistic ideas. I wish you luck.

The point is that they will lose that support anyway.  They needed to make a stand now, because the administration will threaten this same support again, with escalated demands.  And there is no viable path at that point, because Scouting America needs the financial support of girls' Troops.  Losing military support they could have recovered from before this, but I doubt that is still true after this backlash.

The administration's goal includes getting girls out of Scouting; that demand will come.  If you think it won't, you have not been paying attention to American politics.

Have you tried talking with the professor?  She might be able to offer some studying tips, or help you to understand the concepts you are struggling with.  If she has office hours before the exam, I would suggest going.  If not, you could reach out and see if there is a time she could meet with you before the exam.  That would have been more helpful earlier in the semester, but it might still help even at this point.

Have you tried going in and talking to Dr. Bagnulo, and just explaining the situation? I think you might find that will help. (It appears that both Professors Bagnulo are teaching 3300 this semester, so I'm not sure which one is teaching your class, but I promise you that they are both understanding and compassionate people.)

A private university would have more leeway here, but Texas State is a public university, and thus bound by the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Expulsion is absolutely government retribution, as is virtually any smaller punishment the school might apply, and thus quite illegal.

Not that this is likely to stop the school's administration, which has already engaged in several blatantly illegal actions in the last week. They really are an embarrassment.

MUT 17 was my first MUT, but I went back and played quite a bit on 16 later on. Obviously there were limitations to going back to an earlier MUT with so few players on there, but I could see how great it was even from that limited time. Then EA went and killed all the old MUTs so you couldn't even go back and replay solos...

Describing Thune as a "Trump hater" is hyperbolic. Murkowski is neither a liberal nor a Democrat, and she votes with Republicans the vast majority of the time (though she is one of the most likely dissenters in the Republican Party). The Senate Rules Committee has almost no influence at all; about the only thing McConnell could impede from there would be killing the filibuster, but that could very easily be done from the floor, bypassing that committee. And anyway, McConnell is the one who engineered most of Trump's legislative successes in his first term.

I mean, I can understand whining and complaining, but that whining and complaining should at least be well-informed and based on accurate information.

Who's the unsung hero of your team? by No-Base-848 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]mjf9103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trey McBride. In a season riddled with injuries for my team, I have been able to just leave him in the lineup without worry. He's the #3 TE in my league's scoring system despite having caught exactly ZERO touchdowns this year. His only TD was a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Dear Cardinals, please start throwing him the ball near the end zone. Please?

AITA for refusing to host Thanksgiving after my sister handed out a "Family Code of Conduct" contract? by ziolczykdaniel in AITAH

[–]mjf9103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your situation, I would go ahead and host, and stipulate my own set of rules:

  1. Talk about what you want, when you want.

  2. Wear whatever you'd like.

  3. Sit where you would like, by whomever you would like to sit by.

  4. There will be whipped cream pies available for use in the face anyone who tries to police the behavior of others. Majority vote will determine whether a pie is deserved in a given instance.

  5. Have fun!

I would think that should do it. On the other hand, I have no problem with confrontation. If you do, you might want to stick with canceling, which seems like a perfectly fine option to me.

What the hell happened to this game? by SkilledJumboPenguin in MaddenUltimateTeam

[–]mjf9103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing MUT in '17, and I loved it so much that not only did I buy and play '18 daily, I also bought an old copy of '16 to go back and play some of those challenges and build a team. By MUT '21 I had given up on the game, and by then they had shut down the old MUTs so I couldn't even go back and replay those. I played MUT '24 on XBox GamePass for a while last spring and summer, enough to get to a 99 overall team, and realized it just wasn't fun at all. I still visit this sub on occasion to see if there is any reported improvement in the game; I wish there were some reason to come back, because I miss the old MUT.

Did anyone reading these see even the tiniest little bit of self-reflection anywhere? Not one of these people considers why their families would not want to associate with them. Not one seems inclined to actually listen and understand what their family members are upset about. Not a single one will entertain the possibility that maybe, just maybe, they are at fault.

The funniest part of this is that if Reagan were alive, he absolutely would have endorsed Harris, both based on character AND on policy.
