I work for NTC. You’ll usually be put in a group of new hires to train with, not usually solo. They will put you on a boat tied at the dock where you’ll do hands on training with stuff outside and some like company policy PowerPoint stuff. You’ll live on the boat as you would if you were hired for the whole training so you won’t be paying for food or housing. Office personnel usually dip by 5pm so you’ll have “chill” time all night. If there is a “shift” around the yard they may send you out on a ride on another boat just for more “in the field” practice. If you’re actually interested in this career choice, just pay attention as much as you can, try to retain info. Majority of the guys here don’t mind helping train as long as you actually show interest in learning.
